Avoid Aliexpress via Paypal. All, yes ALL, transactions are being processed by Paypal as cash advance! Resulting in Credit Card Issuer inflicting a cash advance transaction fee + accrual of daily interest as high as 28% APR! No way to resolve and all three companies (CC, AE & Paypal) will circle jerk the finger pointing of who is responsible with no solution. Reddit is exploding with many customers getting hit with these fees in the tune of 10's and even 100's of dollars. Avoid!!!

Paying the balance early in Pay Monthly won't violate the terms.

Remove your PayPal account from eBay payment first. Now after making a purchase, it will redirect you to PayPal, pick 'pay in 4' from there.

Not misinformation

Are you one of those people I was talking about that doesn't read? Must be.

I said it's NOT in the TERMS. See that? TERMS, right there:

https://www.paypal.com/us/campaig...ffer-terms 5% is GONE!

And NOW, since I posted a little while ago, they have also removed 5% from the offer screen and updated the wording there to reflect it's for only ONE transaction.

Read.
That is just one of several offers. Instead of trying to be the gatekeeper, folks merely need to look at their available offers to see what they still qualify for. The promos vary by account and can change.

The following is where my 20% currently stands, but others might still have a 5% option:
20% cash back on one Pay Later purchase with PayPal
Limited time. Terms and exclusions apply. Tap for details.
Congratulations! You did it!

So basically those who took the risk and made multiple purchases worth tens of thousands or thousands of dollars likely got an easy 20% back in points on them and get to keep them. So some people out there probably saved over a thousands bucks if they made multiple purchases close to the $1250 limit per transaction. Those are the real slickdealers right there Smilie I salute you all!
thanks! you win some you lose some and this is a much better attitude than some people saying it's a slap in their face if they don't claw back all the CB for everyone else because that user didn't get the deal

I have placed 3 orders using Pay Later. The first two were yesterday and the first was 8am my time. All three purchases show an amount of pending points that translates to 20% of the purchase (e.g. $100 purchase shows 2,000 points = $20).

About four hours ago, I too received their email notifying of the change in terms. I JUST placed an order and used Pay Later. The order was for $455.24, and a push notification at the time of purchase says that I will be receiving 9,105 points. That's $91.05 worth of points... 20% of my purchase. See attached image.

Wondering if this is dead for those with a PayPal account but haven't used the 20% back as of yet?
go into your paypal account, click rewards, and check "your featured offers"

if it's still avail, it will say "ends on date"

if its not avail, it will say "congrats! you did it!" and marked green as completed

How long does it take for it to show "completed?"

I don't know - I think this is a lot better than opening another credit card. Plus a lot of us slickdealers have already opened a million cards for good intro deals. I think it's a great deal, I used the pay in 4 and it spreads out the payment a little with no interest.
I feel the same way. I have a lot of credit cards as well because of their sign up bonuses were too good to pass and I don't want to have more cards. This is a line of credit with an okay sign up bonus though, not the 20% cash back as they branded.
Yes, the pay in 4 with no interest could be helpful, but there are credit cards with no interest for 6-12 months. After the interest free period, the interest rate creeps up.
Just my two cents of pointing out this is a credit line, and I can see that I got downvoted already 🥲

This isn't guaranteed, since mine still shows available, not completed, but I got the email clearly stating I've reached the limit on the offer.

They have 90 days to negate the points, so up to people to decide if it is worth the risk (especially if they pay taxes or something that have a fee associated).

I've only mentioned that a dozen times and included a screenshot of mine saying completed - retroactively, since I did all my purchases about 9 hours before the new terms were release.

Don't you remember if you made a purchase today? If not, you are entitled to one under the new terms that started today. They allow for one transaction as of midnight this morning.

After reading the comments and tried to place an order myself only read thoroughly the fine terms and conditions, I now have an unpopular opinion: This is an okay deal and reasons are as follows:
-The pay later option is really applying a credit line through paypal (with a mastercard or just a line of credit).
-Cash back is capped at $250 for spending $1250.
There are credit cards that offer great sign up bonuses without annual fees such as spending $500 within first 3 months getting $200 statement credit or $300 for spending $1k.
Paypal credit may not as convenient as other big credit cards. It this was purely rewards without applying another credit line, then it would be a great deal!
The Pay in 4 option is interest free and only requires an additional soft credit check if you aren't already pre-approved and it *does not* affect your credit score like a new credit card would. For reference, my credit is frozen through each of the 3 major credit bureaus for fraud prevention and didn't have to unfreeze to take advantage of this particular Paypal offer which is * than requesting a Paypal credit card.

PayPal Pay in 4 is a short term Buy Now, Pay Later installment plan. It splits eligible purchases into four payments over six weeks with no interest if payments are made on time. Applying involves a soft credit check, which does not affect your credit score. However, missed or late payments may be reported to credit bureaus and could negatively impact your score.

And tapping on the box will indicate that you have completed that. IOW, no longer available to you.
Is that how you're reading it?

But some would look at that quickly and think the offer was still good for one purchase.
