Avoid Aliexpress via Paypal. All, yes ALL, transactions are being processed by Paypal as cash advance! Resulting in Credit Card Issuer inflicting a cash advance transaction fee + accrual of daily interest as high as 28% APR! No way to resolve and all three companies (CC, AE & Paypal) will circle jerk the finger pointing of who is responsible with no solution. Reddit is exploding with many customers getting hit with these fees in the tune of 10's and even 100's of dollars. Avoid!!!

Paying the balance early in Pay Monthly won't violate the terms.

Remove your PayPal account from eBay payment first. Now after making a purchase, it will redirect you to PayPal, pick 'pay in 4' from there.

Has anyone confirmed this and got the full points pending with a single purchase over $1250? I have a cart for 1254 with no way to drop it to over 1k but under the 1250.
The spending limit isn't $1250, it's simply how much the 20% cash back will apply to. There is a limit of how much PayPal will allow you to use for credit as part of the program but that's much higher. So you can still have a purchase for say $2000 it's just you will only get 20% in points of $1250 of that total.

Thanks for that tip, even though my Rewards page shows nothing, the Activity page did indeed show 19k pending points. Thanks again!
Yay! 😃

Got off the phone with customer service, they told me some vendors post points pending immediately show the points and others can take up to 14 days and to only call back after that.

I dipped my toes with the dumb HP laptop with the pay in 4, which they cancelled and refunded, which points are still showing as pending after a couple days. Then I got a 500$ desk from Arozzi yesterday and nothing showed pending, despite pay in 4. Then I saw I still had the promotion and grabbed a Vinyl and it instantly showed from premiere collectables. Monitoring the pending points through the activity page.

Hopefully this mess will sort out. I've done the points deals before and had to them to manually send them over after a week of emails back and forth for a 15% back Western Digital reward. They need a better system for this stuff.

I was pre-approved and went through the entire checkout procedure on Sunday 4 or 5 times because I kept getting denied and I kept getting denied because my credit cards weren't good anymore. They weren't EXPIRED (dates were next year) but new cards had been sent and thus the stored cards @ Paypal were no longer valid and thus my orders kept getting denied. Pay in 4 then totally disappeared @ checkout @ Home Depot. The AI telephone crap was WORTHLESS (never could talk to someone) so got on chat and the CSR said too many attempts were made and to give it a couple of days and it would show back up.

It showed back Monday afternoon so placed the orders @ HD and were delivered yesterday with full points pending.
Did you chat with Paypal CSR or Home Depot CSR?

Awesome did it and got points pending, and I stacked it with my discover card so 21% effectively.

I haven't read this whole thread, but just throwing my 2 cents in. Tried to use this at Best Buy (Pay in 4), got denied for "unusual activity". The next day, Pay in 4 was still missing from my checkout options but "Pay Monthly" was still there, which is also eligible. Tried to use that, got all the way through the credit application (and was approved), but when returning to the Best Buy cart, got the same "unusual activity" message.

Now it's 3 days later and both options are still missing. To add, the price of the item I wanted also went up while waiting for these options to appear again.

Even if they show up again, I don't think I'm going to use it. I'm pretty sure Paypal will troll everyone in a few months with "sorry, points budget had already expired for your purchase" notices.
I also got the same "unusual activity" message.

I called Paypal CSR. They said there is nothing wrong with my account.

I still do not see Pay in 4 option in Home Depot.

Paypal was janky, and still is janky.

I tried checking out an iPhone (total around $1170) but Paypal denied the pay in 4 option. Rejection letter says "Total balance on your outstanding Pay in 4 loans or the Pay in 4 loan amount you requested is too high." I imagine since the promo goes up to $1250 it is possible to make larger purchases. There's nothing wrong with my Paypal account or credit. Does anyone know what could be going wrong? Any other way to get this approval?

They certainly could but I don't see how it's worth their time. I went into this totally fine if it didn't work out because I shop at Amazon enough where getting bb gift cards was already a bonus. The PayPal thing would just be icing on the cake.
I hear you and I certainly didn't believe the pending points would just disappear either. And I certainly don't believe they'll find a way to take back the points after they have been awarded despite so many people claiming the terms say so and Paypal would be promoting money laundering and everyone would take advantage of them if this were "allowed" to stand.

After a few more people who bought gift cards get their points, I'm going to declare the stored valued cards don't actually automatically mean "gift cards" to the people over at Paypal and if they really means "gift card" then next time they'll say it instead of coming up with some fancy cryptic term for it that no one else every uses or necessarily understands.

BTW, the "/s" in my previous post denotes the sarcasm.

I had about $500 in pending points from a few different purchases. Today I got the full $250 points added to my account and all others that were pending are now gone and my second purchase only gave me enough points to reach exactly $250 in rewards.
It was nice however using the $250 to make the last pay in 4 payment for the item I bought.

For the people who received their points (no longer pending) did you make purchases that are normally not refundable? (Digital items, gift cards, etc.)
No like I said, it was an ebay purchase for regular items that I can *still* return now if I wanted to.

Why would the process look for something like that when your purchase can be mixed with various products in the checkout?

Wasted phone call, that's the answer for their ordinary cashpack clickthru rewards process, this is a promotion and has nothing to do with vendors posting points. We already know this because two people buying from Best Buy and some get their points pending immediately, some do not. It's because the vendor (Best Buy) has nothing to do with it.

My points just came through as completed. Bought Amazon GC's on BB and had no issue.

I ordered something on 11/18 and got my points a few days ago but it showed pending pretty early on in the purchase. I got the email that the promotion for me ended. But when I go to my rewards page in the app it still shows the "new" 20% cashback promo with updated terms. I just made another purchase today for less than $250 and used the pay later 4 payment plan. I don't see any points pending at all.
