If you're really worried about cold weather, boil water and use an Aeropress. You can top off your faux-espresso with more hot water and have yourself a faux-Americano placed right into your drinking cup of choice. Coffee will be way too hot to drink for quite a long time.
When I go camping, I typically just bring instant coffee now. Usually it's Illy, but I've done Starbucks, too. Comes in a small can. Can be mixed with hot or cold water, depending on the weather and how much time you have to make it. If you don't polish off the can, it's zero packaging waste. If you do, it's minimal waste to take home or leave at the park dumpster. Takes up the least amount of space and weight is negligible.

I made the SAME comment you did about why insulated presses are a bad idea in the slick deals thread for that product, a Stanley insulated press. Insulated presses shouldn't exist, unless you're doing cooler water, and serving immediately after steeping.
