How does this deal compare to this HP Victus 15-fb3001nr 15.6" Gaming Laptop Computer - Mica Silver?

was wondering the same. On paper the HP has better specs - namely 1TB SSD and slightly better CPU I believe.

Is there a way to remove Microcenter from my Slick deals listings? We don't have one in Oregon and I hate seeing all these amazing deals LOL
You can try using the personalize feature for the Front Page. However, there are some that just will not go away. For example, I have tried with Costco (nowhere near me and not a member) and Target, but they still show up. Staff told me the reason they don't go away is because there is a "bug" even though the system works for a bunch of others. BTW, I feel like you I'd rather just not see the Costco ads because I cannot buy.

Legion series laptops have better build quality. Victus is comparable to LOQ, and historically has worse heat dissipation and hampered performance. The CPU in Victus is better in theory, but with the bad heat dissipation you might not get the full performance. Victus is also heavier. The only downside in Legion is the 512gb ssd, which is joke for a gaming laptop. I wish I could find some use cases to buy this Legion with 5060, but I decided not to spend much time gaming and I already jumped on the refurbished Acer Swift GO 14 from ebay which is surprisingly nice for its price. BTW the Legion has 15.3' 16:10 screen which looks modern, and the Victus has 15.6' 16:9 screen which is quite old school.

I posted the HP deal on SD a few days ago but honestly I'd grab this one unless you are uncomfortable swapping SSDs. Honestly 512gb in a gaming laptop in 2025 is pretty unusable unless you only have like 2-3 games installed at the same time. So that's about the only pro the hp has over this one. You won't notice a difference between the CPUs when gaming because chances are you will be bottle necked by the GPU. The Lenovo screen res and build quality higher than the hp.

Well. Why? What makes it "way" better
Beyond all the parts that make it worse as a gaming laptop (inferior CPU/GPU etc.), Acer laptops are also more cheaply build and feels a lot less durable, and is not supported to the same level.

The CPU is almost 20% faster, it has 8 cores compared to 6 cores that you bought. Plus the graphic card is an RTX 5060 better than the RTX 5050 that you have.
Ok bet. In that case I'll be returning the others lol

Adding to what everyone else said. The CPU/GPU on this is better but honestly buying for "kids" the big thing is the build quality on this Legion is fantastic. Like it has none of the flimsiness you would associate with laptops in the sub 1k range, like flex in the body, or warping when you press hard on the keyboard area. It's built like a tank, weighs under 4.5 lbs, has better specs.

It's just dramatically better on every metric honestly. The only thing "wrong" with this Legion is it has only 1 16 GB card and 512 GBs of SSD space. But it has an open slot on each for future upgrades. The ram in particular hurts the performance (will still be better than the acer), but adding a 16 GB stick for 80~ bucks likely increases the performance noticeably even beyond the obvious of more ram is better.

But yeah, build quality is a huge differentiator in this case.

The HP is a great deal, and a good laptop. Personally I would take the Legion with the better screen and build quality over a negligible CPU difference, but if the Legion didn't exist that HP is great. So kind of your call. Good time to go in store and see if they have both on display to "touch". Keyboard feel and trackpad and build quality can be hard to understand online.

Already bought two of these for my boys. Seemed like a great deal. Bigger screen and almost $200 cheaper. Is this one significantly better or am I ok with this one.

Even though this is a differ brand, acer is not as bad as people make out it to be. The nitro brand is actually pretty in quality, I have had 2 of their laptops in the past. In terms of specs they are different. I would go for the acer as it is about 25% cheaper, very capable and for budget gaming. Gaming laptop for that price is really good. This posted legion price is also good too for what it offers. If only it was 17" or greater.
