this thing is so crappy that it has higher latency than the previous generation nest wifi, actual experience.

this only has 1GbE ports according to listing - so - not going to be too useful for 10Gbps fiber even on wired.

Here is my ping from google just now
Minimum = 20ms, Maximum = 22ms, Average = 21ms
I have had it for almost a year and 40 connected items and nothing lags, ever.

Seemed like a good deal, was going to buy it to replace my TP-Link mesh system, but then read reviews and I have lost faith in Google supporting their hardware long term, so didn't buy it.

Nice deal given the original price but I have heard the same that these don't perform very well, even compared to their Nest WiFi predecessor. Range and latency issues.

I've had four of these since they were released. They weren't as reliable at first, But now I don't have any issues. Im on fiber.

TP Link blows this away. I've used both.
Also you don't have to worry about TP LINK bricking your device... Like Google did with the previous gen.
Tp link is about to be banned by the u.s. Read articles about it online. Their routers are highly vulnerable to exploitation.

Question: so I was using this mesh system, 1 as a router and the other two as points, but Xfinity offered me their modem/router for free, can I change the existing nest router to a point with the Xfinity router?

I've owned this product for over 2 years now. Occasional issues with reduced speed that are simply fixed by a quick restart. Ultimately, the performance would be much better when each point is hardwired, but I'm unable to do that. Good enough for streaming and multiple devices. No complaints on my end.

that's probably because you didn't have a reference point for comparison.

The first few days I 'upgraded', everyone in my family noticed the slowness. This isn't a good product, if it doesn't affect your experience, great, more power to you.

Dont do it. these are not worth the headache even if they were free. slow internet, basic features (not even port forwarding support), very flaky mesh and terrible support. This has been a pattern with google devices, never again.
After spending countless hours resolving issues over the year, threw away my 3-pack and moved on to deco. 1000% happier.

good call. google should just shutdown their hardware business and move on.

My netgear nighthawk r6700 router since 2020 has had issue with coverage and my blink cameras. Worth a try to upgrade and good reviews it seems compared to other recent deals on mesh systems. Also got extra 20% cashback using paypal
these are poor quality, go for a better mesh. you will end up spending hours and hours sorting out flaky router and point issues, base don my first hand experience with multiple versions of these devices.

"TP-Link emphatically objects to any allegation it is tied to the Communist Party of China, dependent on the Chinese government, or otherwise subject to interference under Chinese national security laws," the TP-Link spokesperson said. "The company is not controlled by any government, foreign or domestic. TP-Link has split from and has no affiliation with the China-based TP-LINK Technologies Co. I have the H2D version which is older version and I concur they aren't very good. Even though TP-Link is under fire right now, mine works very well and rarely needs a reboot unlike my Google WiFi.
