What's keeping me from pulling the trigger is that's it's 1080p, my other Tapo cameras are C120s which are 2K

I have one of these for 4-5 months. Works well. Solar keeps it at 100% charge so far even in Oregon rainy fall weather. No fees with a card installed for storage.

I am trying to buy a couple cameras so have/are your 2K Tapos available for the same discounted price (~$27-40/per) and each include a solar panel?
Just wanted an idea so I know to wait or not. Thanks!

I have 2, love them. Always charged. I actually mounted them on trees pointing at the house. They are compatible with the H200 hub so I record to there. They will also record to the new H500 hub which I'm waiting on a BF deal for.

I literally bought this for $47.99 last week and installed it on a tree in the back yard ~250 feet away from Att fiber router. It came out with ~70% charged out of the box. Installed it two days ago and been using it. It is charged to %98 percent just before sun went down today. It has been working great with tapo app. It take 2-3 seconds longer than wired tapo cameras to wake up and live stream. It also comes with longer usb-c charing cable if you want to mount solar panel up higher than camera itself. So far , very happy with the purchase.

This only captures events and not 24/7 recording which is why I upgraded but I will say you can change some settings to capture longer recording of events and have camera record more frequently. I like the app also and battery does last a long time when it can't solar charge due to excessive heat by the sun.

Does anyone know:
  • Will this put out an rstp stream?
  • Is it compatible with the NVR built into the Ubiquiti Dream Machine SE?

AFIK all Tapo cams can do RTSP. My c120 cams are all 2k so I'm waiting for a deal on a 2k solar combo.

What is the app used for these?

I had this about 1 year now - ran a cable track to hide the long cable from the camera over my front door to the edge of my front porch. I paid $36, but that was before inflation and tariffs.

Always fully charged.
Great image - captures events, which is fine - not sure the value in capturing the same scene 24/7, but YMMV.
I keep a 128GB card inside.

Tapa = TP-Link = Kasa - all work with the same App.

This is a basic fixed direction, no zoom camera - if you need moving parts, this is not for you. If you need a decent, wide-angled camera that you do not need to change batteries or plug in the wall - this is a good find.

Hello! May I ask approx how many days of storage does a 128gb store? I'm currently using a wired ring camera and looking for non-subscription cam

When you say it only capture events.. does that mean it starts recording when some thing is detected until it's not detected anymore Or does it only record for a fixed time after a detection?

It depends on how often the camera activates. Tapo battery cameras don't record constantly- they wake up when they detect something, record it, and go back to sleep to conserve power. So if you have lots of wake events, it will store more video and require more space. (However, there is a feature where once the memory card is full, it will start overwriting the oldest stored videos).
I've had the 2K version of this camera installed above my garage for nearly a year now. It wakes up multiple times each day whenever anyone comes or goes, and my 256GB card still reports that it's only about 10% full. The solar panel also gets several hours of sun exposure in the afternoon, and the power level on the camera rarely dips below 99%.
