Meh. $1,200 MSRP is ludicrous. $850 should be its normal price. I would pay no more than $700 for a Fenix 8 at the absolute maximum. Other people, of course, may disagree. Fenix 7X Pro on sale around $450 is considerably more value.

This was $750 a while back at a different vendor (smarttek trading or something like that).

Garmin is known for being greedy and putting insane prices on their products. And as usual after 6-12 months they put large discounts and offload unsold stock to resellers. They will learn the lesson the hard way. There are more paid reviews than demand on these watches.

Garmin is really grifting in this market. Their Fenix 8 uses NXP i.MX RT595 which is a chipset common on $150 smartwatches. This chip is $16 a piece semi-wholesale from Digikey for $16 a piece at 1,000 units (MIMXRT595SFFOC).
Sure their case, screen, software, development and 'research' all cost money. At least Apple is selling a $400-500 worth of materials with an iPhone 16. Garmin is probably selling $100 of material for $1000.

I'm ok with a highish price, but only if it comes with great software and lengthy support and NO subscriptions, but...here we are.

I'm fine with 850 if it lasts as long as my Fenix 3 HR which I'm using still today. This 3 has been through nothing but torture. Daily use since it came out. It's been beaten, drug through mud, dirt, sand, exposure to endless AC/MC 130 fluids, car, truck, diesel fluids all day. Never misses a beat
