If this is like the HP Z2 mini my company has, the cooling is terrible. The heatsink is in the middle of the case with no shroud to direct it straight out. It also has a solid cover right over the blower fan so it also sucks in warmed air. So it sucks in pre-warmed air, then struggles to push it out leading to an overall very warm case.

If you know, you know.

(It's not for normie computing. It's a decent deal for those who need it, prosumers and professionals. It's marketed for AI, but it's also excellent for traditional HPC applications and content creators)

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I should have phrased my question more genuine, as it was a genuine question, but in reading it again I see it came across sarcastic which wasn't my intent. I'm not too familiar with the 8060s or that CPU. I figured the 128gb of lpddr5 is obviously a premium but kept expecting to see an rtx in there somewhere given the price point, but after some googling I see the 8060s is a very capable igpu.

It is not like the Z2 mini your office has. There are plenty of in-depth reviews available, check those.

I don't think you still get the point. 8060S is very capable for N integrated graphics but cheaper alternatives like RTX 4080 mobile can beat it easily in gaming while being cheaper. Newer RTX 5070 ti is also much capable than this and can be found in 1500 USD Laptops.
The main usecase it AI and Machine learning workload, running local LLMs, training models etc. Among the 128GB unified memory it has, 96GB can be dedicated to the iGPU, making it capable of running huge large parameter models which can't even possible even 5000/6000 USD dedicated professional graphic cards. Unlike 128 bit memory bus in the consumer laptops, it uses 256 bit memory bus like in midrange graphics cards and provide up to 275 GB/s memory bandwidth. These are not targetted towards normal tasks, heavy CPU workloads (you definitely can do it) but mainly AI/ML work.

Yeah it's a bit better. It still doesn't have a holes right above the blower fans to have a short path to suck in fresh air, and one side of the heat sink is about an inch and a half form the back grill so the hot air won't be directed straight out. Definitely a lot better but still some room for improvement but I would imagine it would throttle bad like the dGPU models of the Z2 mini.

It is not using a Desktop CPU and dedicated low profile gpu in the 1st place. It's a very efficient Ryzen mobile chip, runs far cooler than even Intel's mobile chips and way better than desktop 14th gen and Core Ultra series. So, there is not that much heat to handle, to begin with. Asus literally put this chip inside a 13.4 inch tablet and that still can run it to sustained 80W.

Maybe I stated it poorly but I said after some googling I see the 8060s is a very capable GPU. The memory info is good to know as well. I understand now. Thanks again for the response.

This is the best deal on the HP variant of this AMD Ryzen AI MAX+ Pro 395-based system. While there are cheaper options from Chinese brands like BeeLink, GMKtek, and Minisforum, this model commands a premium because it's the only one that includes a three-year enterprise-class warranty. Most corporate IT departments would avoid models purchased through AliExpress and would gladly pay the extra $300 for peace of mind, better drivers, and reliable warranty support. This same box at retail from HP inflated list price is at $4,586.
