There is no reason for mini-PCs to stop being a thing once Steam PC is out. Steam PC is a niche use for a small form factor box, is bespoke in build and will carry an increased cost compared to more "off the shelf" solutions...which makes a difference to people who don't care about gaming.

As much as I like the Steam Machine coming out, it's meant for a living room usage. The I/O on it is for that pretty much.

This thing is a mini-homelab/server. You really don't understand what this is meant for if you're trying to compare this to a Steam Machine.
