The S5 is a better TV. If you have a Red Card, that will knock $10 off that price, and Circle bonuses may take even more off (I had a $10 off $60+ offer, for example). That gets the prices within reasonable range of reach other. Not sure I'll keep it but just ordered the Target one to replace a TCL HDTV in our family room that isn't used often. Nothing wrong with the current TV, but for the price it may be worth keeping the much newer version with better picture and a fresh warranty. Order first, think later is my BF motto. 😅

Simply put, the 55S551G has better hardware. Per TCL's spec sheets, it has:
  • HDR10+ support (F35 doesn't have it)
  • Brighter "High Brightness" LED backlight vs the F35's standard backlight
  • DTS Virtual:X + DTS:X audio, on top of Dolby Atmos
  • Ethernet port (F35 has no wired network option)
  • Bluetooth 5.2 (F35 is 5.0)
  • Full Chromecast + AirPlay casting vs AirPlay-only on the F35
So the difference isn't just Google vs. Fire. The Target model has meaningfully better HDR compatibility, audio processing, connectivity, and casting support.
