Careful if you live in Wisconsin or Michigan - Republicans currently have bills crafted to ban VPNs.

Just gonna put this out there.. If you know windscribe you know they're a bit of a quirky company, last year they had their usual strange video on Nov 20th and usually on a wall in a scene or something is a special code where you can get a further discount. I managed it last year and now I'm on $19/yr for life. I think the discounts are first come first serve so you have to be quick, but if you can get it it's a pretty decent deal for a good vpn company.

Well, their ultimate goal is a nation porn ban ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0noIS9lmR0Y ), they are using state legislature like the bills in Texas, Wisconsin and Michigan as attack vectors. These people don't understand technology very well, but they know enough that VPNs are typically used to get around these bans, so that's why they are proposing a ham-fisted blanket ban on VPNs.

It remains to be seen if they know how critical VPNs are to many industries and how they would write the law knowing this information.. Hopefully these bills get shut down before they see the light of day, because this is going to be a massive headache for many people and businesses for what amounts to an ineffectual ban.

Do they allow torrents? Asking for a friend who has advised me that his (or her) uTorrent won't connect properly anymore. The log shows a wrong IP being listened on.

The ceo got arrested because some user used Windscribe vpn to hack into Greece government. But was dismissed because they have no logs. Ridiculous that he got arrested in the first place. https://www.yahoo.com/news/case-d...32252.html

Is it expected that they do this on Nov 20th every year? Will look out for it tomorrow AM. Thx!

I'm using Windscribe in America on my iPad and logged into a very remote US server. Shows VPN sign at the top of the iPad. I then open a fully closed app and hit allow location services while using the app. It still shows my exact true city on the app. Isn't this supposed to be telling the app I'm in that other city?
Turn off Location (GPS), that should solve the problem.

Can I buy 1-yr now but activate it later (and still have 1-yr remaining then)? I still have a few months of NordVPN.

Bought lifetime before, I think mine shows 2028 expire? Not sure if it will actually expire
It's suppose to automatically renew. They have a post about it on there site. You don't have to do anything.

Do they really? I bought a lifetime membership and mine shows it expires in 2027.

I see it. that's awesome!

What are people using as a payment options? I know some prefer anonymous
I go to Staples and buy one of their $200 Visa cards with cash (when they are on sale without having to pay the transaction fee) and use that. However, I've only ever bought windscribe plans from stacksocial, never from windscribe directly. Curious to know what others use

I'm using a Santa Claus tracking app that seems to know my location even with this VPN on. If Windscribe can't fool this, how is it going to fool a web browser or other apps? Seems counterintuitive to have to toggle location services off if the VPN is active.

It's not supposed to by default.

Use the GPS spoofer feature of Windscribe for that.
They call it "Deep Fake" an Android-only feature.
Or you can use any GPS spoofer

I'm okay paying a little above their rock bottom price because its a great company with a ton of humor and I want them to stick around Smilie

I used a VPN to securely connect to business services at work. How will they ever accommodate that? Paranoia > Progress

Pretty good VPN. I bought the lifetime membership years ago. Still holding up.

I'm one of the lucky few who bought a lifetime membership in prior years, and I had the same moment of panic a year or two ago when I was due to expire but it automatically renewed; no further steps had to be taken. You should be good.
