I'm using a Santa Claus tracking app that seems to know my location even with this VPN on. If Windscribe can't fool this, how is it going to fool a web browser or other apps? Seems counterintuitive to have to toggle location services off if the VPN is active.
That's because they aren't using your IP to track your location they use the GPS that's on the device. VPN just obscure your original IP from website you visit. You're going to need something else to spoof your location.

I used to have Pro for $10/year. It renewed automatically for several years without any emails or warnings about renewal, and suddenly it stopped the renewal, said I did not pay the renewal. It's on autopay. Nope, they wanted $39/ year. It's not a bad price, but I disagree with the practice. So I didn't re-subscribe.

Just gonna put this out there.. If you know windscribe you know they're a bit of a quirky company, last year they had their usual strange video on Nov 20th and usually on a wall in a scene or something is a special code where you can get a further discount. I managed it last year and now I'm on $19/yr for life. I think the discounts are first come first serve so you have to be quick, but if you can get it it's a pretty decent deal for a good vpn company.
That's awesome, they're very quirky indeed! Do they send this via email? Or is it on their socials or something?

I don't recommend them. Just finished a 3 year run and couldn't wait for it to be over.
I'm not a techie person, Mainly use for streaming/torrenting.
I've dealt with constant disconnects finding myself vulnerable as there was no active kill switch.
I've also had issues with their app randomly changing servers or country location, bringing speeds to a crawl. If you are just a basic user and don't know how to code, They are very condescending how they speak to their customers. Like you're a dumbass and shouldn't be using their service.

I used them for about a decade now and never had any of those issues. The Android, IOS, and Windows app all have a firewall that you can enable that does the same thing as a killswitch. Basically takes three clicks to set up.

I used a VPN to securely connect to business services at work. How will they ever accommodate that? Paranoia > Progress
Well, their ultimate goal is a nation porn ban ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0noIS9lmR0Y ), they are using state legislature like the bills in Texas, Wisconsin and Michigan as attack vectors. These people don't understand technology very well, but they know enough that VPNs are typically used to get around these bans, so that's why they are proposing a ham-fisted blanket ban on VPNs.

It remains to be seen if they know how critical VPNs are to many industries and how they would write the law knowing this information.. Hopefully these bills get shut down before they see the light of day, because this is going to be a massive headache for many people and businesses for what amounts to an ineffectual ban.

Toitally agree. This is one of my "god tier" VPN's (though I know some lists don't consider it so because it's in Canada, a five-eyes country). But tne only VPN's I ever recommend to friends are Mullvad, IVPN, ProtonVPN and Windscribe. Windscribe being the cheapest of the 4, but being in my list because they take privacy seriously (audited, servers run in RAM, no logs, all the latest cryptography (wireguard with quantum resist) good option for apps on all the popular stores, plus you can download configs if you want to run a generic app or on your home router).

Don't think anyone can go wrong with Windscribe.
Based on my understanding, they didn't audit on whether they only log what they say they do. It was a pen test. And it wasn't done by a known company like the Big 4.
