This is I believe the cheapest a colorsoft has been, and the 16gb supposedly doesn't have the yellow band issues that some people have had with the 32gb model.

For anyone looking, there is also a bundle below with the clear and fabric case for only 1.99 more at 171.98. The case is normally 36.99 so it seems worthwhile even as a backup case

Worth noting that if you have a kindle tied to your account, you'll see an "upgrade offer" that does NOT require you to send in your old kindle, at least if it's below a certain generation. I used that to buy a green base kindle for $64 the other day (I have a 2nd gen paperwhite I think? it replaced the kindle keyboard I loved for a decade before stepping on it). It's offering me this kindle for $135 even though I already used the offer once already and the new kindle has shipped.

Unfortunately, while a kindle user since ~2010, I don't think 16gb or even 32gb is even adequate for my needs. If I'm going with color, I'd prefer something that can natively read cbr/cbz and not have to convert and swap things off and on. I have some cbr/cbz that are 100mb+ per volume, with many volumes in the series. Maybe I could deal with a jailbroken kindle and loading cbzs from a nas, a google drive or swapping conversions in and out on my amazon account or something, but I don't want to count on that.

The only color ereader that really intrigues me is the Boox Go Color 7 because it has access to the play store and a microsd slot, so I'd have a ton of flexibility in both local cbz readers and manga repo apps. Supports a pen too (though kinda rudimentary, not for drawing). Costs twice as much though...

I took the plunge and have had it for a few days now. I have until February to trade in the Oasis, but at this point I think I am going to stick with the colorsoft. The improvements in screen refresh on page changes feels soooo much better, and the contrast does seem better when reading in the dark.

I liked having the physical page turn buttons, but this has it where you can double tap the back or side and the page changes. I have found it to, for me, be actually better. I have big hands and I often found it uncomfortable to keep my hands in the crab claw position when reading for long periods of time so I could hit the page turn button. The double tap on the back lets me keep my hands in a more natural position.

That may be an issue more specific to me/others with bigger hands, but for anyone in a similar situation thought I would mention it.

I still kind of wish it had physical buttons, but even with the oasis I wish the buttons had been at the bottom of the kindle and more towards the center, so they were never quite perfect for me anyway.

I remember back in the days where they used to literally give these away just so you would buy the Kindle books, but that was before Jeff bezos conquered the world and learned how to turn off our atmosphere. Wait next year. We'll be buying oxygen from him just like out of "Total recall"... Skip it, get a decent tablet and just download the app

I had the oasis until the buttons started going, then shifted to kobo sage (for the open walls) and had two device failures, onyx Boox go color was nice but reading experience was never great. I just got the colorsoft signature and honestly I wish I had never left the kindle family! The colors are a bit more muted than the onyx but I'm not expecting an iPad experience. It's just nice to differentiate from B/W. The buttons I do miss but the swipe is actually pretty nice although I wish they let you customize the page turn options more like Boox.
