I got this one with the fly more combo with 3 batteries for my 12 year old son($226.54)

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FTRYVT5

wondering if I should return and get this one instead, thoughts from experienced drone owners?

Thoughts?

This one doesn't include the controller where the one you bought does, and your son is not going to want to fly it with a phone. Also yours is worth it for the 3 batteries and charger. This listing is if you want another one and/or have the goggles and existing controllers and batteries, or you just want to use the follow me feature and whatever presets are in the phone app.
