Not a good deal as the latest Samsung Health measurement monitors such as antioxidant level and vascular load are only compatible with Watch 8 or greater.

Are those watches locked for a year? I imagine they would work just like a wifi model if you disable cellular connection.

yes they work over wifi/bt. make sure you are on the $65/month phone plan to qualify for the promo price on the watch.

Upgraded from watch 4. Only use for checking notifications at work, don't want to pull my phone out. Much quicker and smoother UI, very happy. Battery uses 33% a day for this usage. 44mm.

I can't find that deal for new customers. Under Black Friday deals I see current customers get Galaxy Watch7 40MM for $29.99, or Get one for $199.99 when you add a new watch line.

I was surprised to find out the Watch 6's EKG and blood pressure monitors were crippled if you didn't have a Samsung phone. Is this still the case for the 7?

Yep, and to make it worse the update to UI 8 disables the workarounds/mods that had been working. There are new ones in the work but they aren't available yet.
I bought one without knowing that, it's a great watch but the ECG crap ticked me off.

You might want to wait for a trade-in deal. Earlier this year, I traded in my Watch 4 for the Watch 7 for only $69. I'm waiting for a similar upgrade to the Watch 8.
