About this Item:
  • FEAR COMES HOME -- Fear, combat, exploration, and item management: these are the four pillars of survival horror, a genre that has never been more masterfully executed than in the gameplay of Resident Evil. The horror continues in the ground-breaking Resident Evil 7. Step into the new Isolated View and experience true survival horror in a world created by the all-new RE Engine.
  • DEEP IN THE BAYOU - When Ethan Winters opened his inbox, the last thing he expected was to find an email from his wife; she had been missing for three years. The message was simple: "Come get me," and an address in Louisiana. This leads Ethan to a decrepit mansion in the heart of the bayou. The place has a seriously creepy vibe, but Ethan continues his search – until a stranger attacks him and knocks him unconscious. Ethan has no idea what awaits him when he wakes up...for he is now in the clutches of the Baker family.
  • A NEW PERSPECTIVE -- In RESIDENT EVIL 7, we're changing the way you interact with the world. For this next major entry in the series, play from a first-person point of view, dramatically increasing your ability to become fully absorbed in the world we have created.

oh my goodness yes. maybe I'm a wimp but this is one of the scariest games I have ever played. This is coming from someone who LOVED RE4 and played it through at least 4 times.

These games in VR are absolutely unnerving with surround sound headphones.

Unfortunately the PS5 version does not have VR. I'm still hoping they'll add it, but it's not likely. Village does, though, and that's definitely awesome.

While it can give some context on RE elements, you don't absolutely need to have played the other RE games. This is a totally new character than the usual OG RE characters and it's played in 1st person, which either you love or may hate. It def ups the claustrophobic/jump scare element of the game. But just a heads up: RE: Village is a direct sequel to this game, so Village should prob be played after this.

Personally, I still think RE4 is still my favorite but this is definitely super creepy/scary, especially with the bayou element. The main thing people may find annoying is a lot of the game is in a super dark setting, so you may need to adjust lighting for the game depending on how your TV set-up is. I also don't love the "bottleneck lost item" parts of some of these games, where you have to do a specific thing/find a specific thing in order to progress, sometimes it's not always obvious. But I guess that's like a lot of games these days.

Tl;dr: This is absolutely worth $15. I played just the PS4 Standard edition, and apparently this Gold version has all the extra DLC content for free.

Thank you. I just bought it. This will be my first time playing resident evil.
