That's not necessarily true. I had AirPods Pro that were fake, and everything paired/worked like real ones. They had a legit serial number too, because Apple showed they had AppleCare, but they were registered to 4 different people. Fakes are really, really good.

Apple Pencil Pro at this price is a strong value for iPad users who want Apple only features like pressure sensitivity and hover. The Pencil should pair normally, show a charging indicator, and appear in Settings About when it is genuine, and registration in an Apple account can start the one year warranty. The main risks with used units are counterfeit hardware, a previous owner leaving Find My attached, or Amazon sending the USB C Pencil instead of the Pro. Compatibility also excludes the M1, so it fits best when the device match is confirmed.

  • Pressure sensitivity and hover features reportedly align with Apple Pencil exclusives, which can help distinguish genuine units.

  • The deal may be improved by returning a competing unit when Amazon price matching is not available.

    christianfriends1824Hany2018

  • The Apple Pencil Pro can reportedly be registered in an Apple account to start a one-year warranty.

    happy_jia

  • Amazon reportedly provided a $15 promotion code when ordering before a 20% discount.

  • Counterfeits can be very convincing, including pairing behavior and serial/AppleCare display, so authenticity checks may still be necessary.

  • Used units may be blocked from adding to an account if the previous owner has not unpaired the Pencil Pro from Find My.

    jowo

  • The used seller may send the wrong model, such as a USB-C Pencil instead of the Pencil Pro, which can require a return.

    warui

  • The Pencil Pro reportedly is not compatible with the M1.

Can we easily tell these are fake upon receipt? Only real ones would be eligible for AppleCare right?

I think if they pair like airpods, pressure sensitivity works, hover works, and the charging indicator appears when attached, it's a real one. Should also show up in Settings-> About. No idea for AppleCare, will report back

Yea. Like "real ones" would have Serial Number that would properly show on Settings>About which can be verified on Apple/Applecare right? Unless fakes can do the same? I'm not too familiar the extent of fake Apple products. All I know is that they exist.

True Airpod fakes are clever. But pressure sensitivity and hover are Apple Pencil exclusive, no third-party styluses can utilize those features, even fakes afaik.

True. At that point. If the fake can pull those features off and write so well that you don't even notice. You might as well keep the fake lol

Thank you! Amazon could save a lot on shipping if they would price adjust or match. I just bought this for $13 more and I'm sending it back since they won't price match.

For a good fake airpod, only way I could tell was that it failed to update software. Everything else looks okay.
