The credit posts to your account after the charge posts. I don't know the exact timing.
It does say you need to "enroll" on the Amex page for the benefit.

Yea, I don't get how people can support their model? Hiding already expensive device behind another expensive monthly paywall.

It's because people have different circumstances than you. My employer pays for health and fitness subscriptions (and up to $200/quarter for hardware). Combine these with the amex deal here and it's worth it.

I generally don't buy products that require subscription to actually work, but Oura's is 100% worth the $6 monthly fee. You get a ton of unique data and it sends notification about changes in HRV and such over time so you can figure out if it's an anomaly or something to look into.

I've worn both my AW and Oura to bed and have discovered the AW's sleep score is a joke. I get in the 90s when I can feel I didn't get that great of a rest. But the Oura always scores me how I actually felt waking up.

No, the amex oura program is only for hardware, not subs.

"Excludes Oura membership purchases, other hardware purchases (e.g., chargers, add-ons), extended warranty purchases, Oura gift card purchases, and purchases made using third-party retailers, delivery services or other intermediaries."

$200 yearly Amex reward pays for all that. As soon as Amex stop doing this deal, Oura will go bankrupt.
