I think Elite Dangerous is fairly similar, tho I haven't spent much time with that one. Kind chill vibes in no man's, fun to take off and launch into space, fly around to explore different planets, and re-entering atmospheres is cool.

I don't recall it crashing on either switch 1 and switch 2 during my logged game time. The switch 2 version is certainly a better gaming experience, but no crashes to my recollection.

Among my all time favourite games, and despite the rocky launch of the game the devs have more than delivered when it comes to updates. Practically unheard of to release continual updates to a nearly ten-year-old game while never charging a penny for any DLC ever.

The Switch version is however the weaker of the versions out there due to the aging hardware and lacks some features in other versions (the big one being settlements). I've yet to play it on Switch 2 but I've heard that playing on Switch 2 compared to Switch 1 is a HUGE upgrade.

The Switch 2 upgrade is a massive improvement. The fact they did it for free is awesome.

The game itself is kind of whatever you want it to be. You want to get in your ship, fly to space and dog fight? Yep. You want to explore new worlds, find new creatures and plants? Yep. You want to do random missions? Yep. You want to mine resources and build structures? Yep. You just want to explore to see if you can get to and interesting area? Yep. It's so open it can be too much if that bugs you.

One thing I found really interesting was I received a distress signal while flying in space. Decided to follow it. Came across a wreckage where whoever turned it on had been long gone or dead. Then raided the wreckage.

After the initial amazement wore off Ifind it fun to pick up and play for a bit every so often just to relax. One of those games where I probably won't sink a ton of hours into it with everything else to play, but if I were stranded on a desert island and could only pick one I'd strongly consider it.

One of my favorite games of all time. I have the PS4 version, which is the only way to still play the original 1.0 version of the game (you disable your internet and all updates) and It's crazy to see how much the game has changed in 9 years, and I have heard that they have even bigger plans for the 10th anniversary next year. I do have a word of warning for the original Switch version though. Apparently it's going to reach a point soon where it can no longer get the updates of the Xbox Series and PS5 versions, and the only way that you will be able to keep getting those updates is if you buy a Switch 2. So, just a word of warning about that. Also, the PS4 version (which is also the PS4 Pro version, the PS5 version, the PS5 Pro version, the PSVR version, and the PSVR2 version, is basically the cheapest and most future proof option of buying the game these days if you can find a cheap copy of it. As that version above all others will keep getting updated for the foreseeable future. Xbox also has this game for free on GamePass if you have GamePass on your Xbox One and Xbox Series consoles (and I am not 100% sure), but maybe the PC version is also on GamePass.

More of an open-ended run around and explore type of game. After a while it does get repetitive, though the developers keep adding features to the game. More of a space management sim.
