you don't want NVMe here - would be way too slow. Try: https://www.amazon.com/SSK-Duplic...B0D6RCR174

I'm thrilled to see one of these that support 18/20TB drives (or I assume so since it says 44TB supported).

I bought this. It makes a loud beep every time it powers on. The Amazon seller says the only way to stop the beep is to open it up and put electrical tape over the beeper. Wtf

I have two of these at work I used to use all the time. We've widely deployed Bitlocker now so they don't work very well with encrypted drives (which is probably the point of encryption LOL).

Do keep in mind the destination drive needs to be larger than the source drive for the copy to work. Same size or smaller tends to fail.

How does this work with encrypted drives? Are you able to say back up a drive and that backup itself is encrypted, and then restore it ad-libs and it would work again? Or can you not copy the contents at all?

You can not duplicate an encrypted drive. You would have to remove Bitlocker first.

For those looking for an alternative that uses USB-C connectors, the following worked well for me for a little over 18 months, running 24 x 7 on a mini-PC (not perfect, but still a good value).

It's a little more expensive, but with my mini-PC, USB-C connectors seem to work better. Otherwise, I'm sure both would work fine.
Also, regarding BitLocker: You can "pause" BitLocker (using the UI in Windows or PowerShell). This can allow for sector-based copy and then a prompt for the recovery key when moved to a different platform, if that's the goal. I haven't fully tested this myself, but the issue in not just the encryption itself, it's the "protectors" (TPM, password, other types of keys). It's still far quicker and faster than attempting a decryption and re-encryption, though I'm not sure how sector-based copying works for this. AI might be useful here, but be sure to verify sources and commands. I hope this helps a little!
