Hell yeah, I mean computers should be free by now. As a matter of fact, why don't they pay us $200 or $300 to take this ANCIENT GARBAGE off their hands? It's obviously so underpowered and outdated and can't even display a gif of a flying toaster without catching on fire.
Disregard these people. This is a good laptop for the price. If you don't think it's priced fairly, then wait for Trump to reduce the tariffs he made us pay in the first place before buying more electronics.

This Victus looks like a strong budget gaming laptop for 1080p play, with the Ryzen 7 and RTX 4050 handling titles smoothly and the keyboard backlit for everyday use. Reported performance includes 100 to 120 frames per second in Black Ops 7 with DLSS balanced, and the build has held up well over years of use. The main knocks are the mediocre CPU label, Wi Fi stuttering on some setups, and its heavy chassis. It feels like a solid value if you can live with the tradeoffs.

Get usb wifi adapter and problem solved. I had problem with WIFI in various windows laptops and this solved the problem
If it's not an Intel wifi chipset, it's going to be questionable. I replaced mine in a Lenovo Legion and it has been night and day. I think it was an AX211.

Is this the best bang for the buck laptop for light gaming and mostly work, movies, multitasking? Looking for something with at least 16gb.

Same question. Looking for a light-medium duty laptop as my only laptop. In-fact I've only ever had a corporate-supplied laptop until recently. I am looking for something for remote work (connecting to a remote work resource, not doing work locally), light gaming, and streaming media.

Also looking at something with a touchscreen which this doesn't have, but I doubt I'll find a ~$500 laptop with touchscreen and a RTX GPU.

Touch screen would be a hard ask for around $500, but I would wait till actual blackfriday/cyber monday see if you can get lucky and scoop up a similar laptop with a 4060 or 5050 for around $600 or less and call it a day.

There is currently a lenovo with a i5 and a 5050 for $650 but i think it can go lower, still a good deal.

There is an acer nitro that is close at $630

IF you can afford it and have a MC near you, I recommend spending the extra to get the Lenovo legion 5 15.3" LED with a 5060 and Ryzen 260 for $800. It's a massive stepup over this laptop on basically every metric. Better keyboard, trackpad, screen, processor, massively better GPU, and importantly for budget minded people (imo) some of the best build quality/expected life on the market.

Bought the and 8series version for my 17yo nephew last year. He loves it. Hes a gamer. I think I need to buy him another stick of ram to get 30% more performance. And he ran out of space for games.

Would this be a good laptop for a college student taking engineering? If not, looking for recommendations. Thanks

I decided to pull the trigger on this. Looks like the best bang for the buck for moderate gaming.

In my limited knowledge of video editing, I don't think this would be a great laptop. Probably decent, but not great. You would probably want to have a processor with more cores.
