No it is not, I usually run a 24 or better on my saw just so I don't have to bend over as far. I had a 450 rancher for a little while that ingot through aome horse trading, and it is a solid homeowner saw. Great for cutting up a tree that blows over once a year, but it felt cheap if you tried to work it.

For the Husqvarna genius out there. Does this really have smart start? I thought that was specific to the "450S" version.

20" is the minimum I'd ever consider for a gas saw. Anything smaller I'd just go electric.

Depends how much, and what, you have to do. Shorter times plus enough battery, sure. Hours plus days plus not near constant charging and/or multiple batteries, electric becomes annoying. I have a Greenworks 80v. Granted it's an 18, it's heavier than the 455 20" I've had for 20 years (with absolutely 0 issues and heavy ranch use, probably 40 acres of trees, mostly cottonwood, cedar, black walnut, locust, in various groups/fences).

I've spent a couple weeks a couple times lately cutting cedars out of barbwire fence. Being beyond 1/4 mile out on my property, electric isn't practical. Small and light is very handy for all day use, less fatigue, for smaller stuff, and I have bad hands. I have a little Makita ea3601 for a lot of that, very light. And I got a Stihl 261cm to get lighter this summer, discounted sale on giftcards earlier in the year that I used for it, and later 17% rebate sale on everything/Stihl, it was "cheap" ($550ish). Also going to be handy. (would have gotten the 400 though but Bomgaars doesn't stock them).

All that said, anything I saw while looking into newer saws, 450 was "ok", for the price. With sales, my 261 was a couple hundred more.

Good saw at a good price. I've had this one for about 3 seasons. I also have a Stihl 261, which was double the price that I tend to prefer for no good reason but honestly this one is just as capable. Recommend.

Can't speak to the 450 specifically but I bought a 465 with a 24" bar last year and love it. At this price this looks like a great saw.

Good deal. Wont ship to my area, California. 20" not always necessary. Bigger isn't always better. Light and maneuverable has advantages. And constantly recharging a battery chainsaw would not work "for me". All twisted oak with 16" Echo cs-352 muffler mod and tuned.

Have owned many chainsaws in my 81 years. Can't beat Husqvarnas for price/performance.

I have the 450 and the 435 I bought ten years ago (thanks SD!).
I'll tell anyone here that's thinking of buying one the same thing I tell anyone about small engine anything…
ONLY run rec fuel through this. That's all I've put in it since day one and in 10 years of heavy abuse, both of them fire right up every. single. time. Honestly I don't think I've even replaced the plugs since I bought them. No maintenance, no need to winterize or drain the fuel. Grab one out of the shed when I need it, choke, prime, pull, go cut wood.
Maybe it's just a rec fuel thing. Maybe it's a husqvarna thing. Maybe both I don't know. But these saws have been 100% dependable since day one.

Seriously, were you not baiting everyone with this post? "Depends how big your wood is," etc lol.

But it really does depend on size of wood. My 20" Husqv (from a SD many years ago) is not quite long enough for the largest hardwoods I've had to cut (42"+ dia).

This engine is big enough to slap on an Oregon (recommended) 24" bar if that extra reach is needed. Pick a low-kickback chain (limits "bite") if not 'experienced'.

Wish I needed this, for the price. A big TU.
