I find AppleCare is like buying insurance on your refrigerator. It's usually a big waste of money. Usually when you see a failure it's after year 5-6 or later. By then the battery is weak and it's time to consider a new model instead or spend hundreds on a battery replacement/or leave it plugged in most of the time. I'm writing this on a 2019 MBP that's never had an issue. I have had six MBP's. My 2012 model was the only one that had any issues and it was after 6 years the keyboard needed replacement. That repair was less than AppleCare.

It's more about accidental damage and the fact that a fix could easily cost $400-1000+, more on the more higher spec models.

You're more likely to drop your macbook than your fridge.
