It's in a sense $50 off. Yeah I know the new price is $750, but for the first year (or two? Don't remember when it came out) the price was $700. They raised it to $750 just recently and now give $100 off.
So yes, it's still $100 off effectively, but I feel like at this point $50 off the price it had been for so long isn't a big sale. If they had brought it down to $600, that would have been legit.
The PS5 Pro is drawing attention as a premium 2 terabyte console that can be made much cheaper with stacked promos, especially PayPal Pay in 4 cash back, Best Buy trade in credits, and occasional Amex or Amazon card offers. The strongest value math puts it well below list price, and the extra processing features are described as noticeable in real play. Shipping dates, trade in promos, and cash back offers have been inconsistent, though, and the upgrade is still seen as late in the generation with limited game support for the extra power. A solid option if the discounts line up and you want the Pro features.
Gamers who plan to stack Best Buy trade-in credits with PayPal Pay in 4 because commenters describe getting the $100 bonus trade-in and then applying 20% PayPal cash back to drive the net cost down substantially.
People buying through Dell who have an Amex offer because Dell matched the $649 price and AMEX users could apply a $100 off $500 offer for extra savings.
PS5 Pro buyers who care about real-world image quality because PSSR makes a noticeable difference in actual use even if it doesn't always show up in videos.
PS5 Pro shoppers who are comfortable timing purchases around shipping and promos because one commenter had a Dell rep lock the price for 30 days and reported shipping dates improving after ordering.
Buyers who don't want to deal with trade-in promo uncertainty because Best Buy's extra trade-in promotion was reported as dead/intermittent, changing the expected credit amount.
People relying on PayPal Pay in 4 at Best Buy who aren't using the right checkout flow because a commenter reported PayPal Pay in 4 not showing up as an option until they used the Best Buy website and selected "other pay options" after saving the promo.
Disc-drive-dependent buyers who don't want to add hardware because commenters say you'll need a disc drive and can't imagine paying this much for an all-digital setup that could become e-waste soon.
People who want a long runway before the next console because commenters argue the PS5 Pro is late in the generation and PS6 is likely 1-2 years away, making it obsolete sooner.
Amazon shoppers who might choose slower shipping options because one commenter warns that Amazon's Super Saver shipping previously left their PS5 stuck in "shipping limbo."
The deal can be stacked with retailer promos: Best Buy has shown a $100 bonus trade-in on the PS5 Pro page, and PayPal Pay in 4 has offered 20% cash back when redeemed before purchase. Dell has also matched $649, and an AMEX $100-off-$500 offer can further reduce the price.
The extra $100 bonus trade-in is tied to the PS5 Pro page and can be intermittent. The higher $200 trade-in amount appears to apply only to the disc version, while the promo has also shown up and disappeared at different times.
Yes, but it has to be activated before checkout and selected through Best Buy's website under other payment options. The promo must also be saved in the PayPal app or website first, or Pay in 4 may not appear.
The PS5 Pro's real-world difference over the PS5 can be barely noticeable for some games, but PSSR can make a noticeable improvement in use. It is also a late-generation upgrade, so value depends on whether you want the extra performance now or would rather wait for future discounts.
Amazon Super Saver shipping can leave the console stuck in shipping limbo, so it is a risky choice if you want predictable delivery. Free shipping or a faster shipping method is the safer option.
Dell.com also matched that price and those with AMEX can use the $100 off $500.
Good find, but for me shipping says it won't arrive until Wednesday, Jan 14. I live in Seattle.
The AMEX offer did show up in my account.
For those on the fence on whether a better deal might come up BF, I did speak with an online Dell rep and she locked in the price for 30 days via a quote. So I personally might wait to see if a better deal comes up between now and Cyber Monday, and if not, go with the Dell/Amex deal and hope it arrives sooner than listed.
Edit: per the other Slickdeals post for the PS5 Pro from Dell, someone said they ordered it last night (Nov 21) and the shipping date changed from January to November 26th. A second person might have also said that it will arrive sooner.
As indicated by the wildly successful Series X sales and amazing strategy of buying studios, keeping all of them operating, and churning out instant classics.
question is open box fair at 564 an even better deal
Depends on return policy and whether or not you feel like gambling.
In this case, Amazon return policy is good so no risk to taking a chance, IMO.
That said, most people would be better off getting a current gen budget desktop PC around this price. The real world difference between PS5 & PS5 Pro is barely noticeable from what I've seen.
No, not really......they are not able to sell these at volume , market is flooded with them. Even the PS4 Pro sold fairly low numbers and that was a small markup to the regular PS4 compared to the markup on base PS5 to Pro. Reasons this is not a good deal:
Fairly late in the generation and PS6 is probably 1-2 years away making this obelete very soon
Very few games and studios have really made use of the increased GPU on this thing....CPU is the same
YOU will need a disc drive TBH...I cant imagine paying this much for a all digital console that will become ewaste, unless its hacked but then you wont be able to play online games
There will be huge discount fairly soon once new consoles release for this and XBOX Series X
