Ive been looking at these 2025 model Grams for awhile, but just took advantage of the Samsung Book5 Pro 16 deal that was posted last night.

If you choose to go up to the Pro models, you get a better brighter display that can do variable refresh from 30-144hz, better speakers, and in the 17" model you get a rtx 5050 and the higher power 285H cpu. This is a big tradeoff in battery life due to the higher spec components though. If you like the 258V/288V power sipping lunar lake cpus, you can get that in the 16 pro and It'll run just like this but you do get a huge battery in this 17" model. I was considering the gram pro 16 but they havent gone below $1,495 with coupon on their partner site so far. Theres a posting for the 17" Pro model here on slickdeals if you want that, and I was sent a 15% off coupon that I shared in that thread to drop the price to $1500 shipped for one poster. It has limited uses though, so good luck. Hope this helps, its a good laptop for sure, but wanted to assist the community in comparing the models.

I have an earlier generation of the Gram 17. Great laptop. Super light, massive screen, fast, great battery life.

For those of you that have access to LG's partner store, this is the same price but has a 10% off coupon for another $100 off with code "EXTRA10".

Really tempting. I'll have to check this out. Was also looking at the HP Omnibook X at 999.

The HP has facial recognition, but the Lenovo has a fingerprint sensor.

Any feedback as to which is more useful in day-to-day use?
Well that depends on if you like your face or your fingers more

Form factor of LG Gram 17 is incredible, there's effectively no competitor. I have owned a couple of them. But be aware LG doesn't sell spare parts. My battery fried on mine just a couple of years old, and I went through multiple Amazon, ebay, ali express batteries and none of them worked. Pulled the smaller battery from my older Gram 17 which does work, but still annoyed I can't easy buy a replacement battery.
LG gram are great, but effectively they are throw away even for the most basic repairs.

I had no problem replacing a battery in a gram 16 2-in-1 with a $20 battery off eBay. Results may vary.

This would probably be the case for any modern ultraportable. Can't even add or replace RAM. I hope the SSD at least is upgradeable.

Just got the 2TB version at Costco for $1250. The LG store one seems like a way better deal at $900, even with the worse return policy and warranty.

Yes it is replaceable and also keep in mind that there is a slot/space to add a second SSD.

What about the HX, not necessarily a Gram?

Any credit card will extend the 1 year warranty to two years? Costco Citi Visa signature card?

Cool. That second ssd slot also mitigates the lack of an SD card reader.

Not positive, but I think any Visa Infinite card will extend. If I were to buy this, I would use my Capital One Venture X.

I have a Wells Fargo Visa Signature card, but that apparently does not extend the warranty.

The new generation Gram laptops are built much more cheaply than the older ones. I bought one about a year ago, and heat pipe broke off and stopped cooling the processor. It took me about a week to figure out why the machine ran terribly, and the cpu was always at 100% (thermal throttling).

They aren't built like they used to be. But they are just as expensive as ever. Replacement parts are expensive, too.
Could you elaborate on what has actually changed with the construction? You're not necessarily wrong, but I don't think a one-off incident is sufficient to condemn the whole series.

I would be happy if you can prove me wrong.

I think my Citi card does offer extended warranty.
