But if you think you'll want more/higher quality ui cameras than what it can support, then you'd have to look at splitting the gateway and access point(s)
Ubiquiti is very much like Apple - they have an ecosystem that plays nice with each other, so you can manage everything from the same place, versus having to manage each part of your network individually. You do pay up front for that convenience though.
Community Reviews
The UniFi Dream Router 7 is a compact all in one gateway that stands out for easy management, Wi Fi 7, and a built in PoE port, making it a strong entry into the UniFi ecosystem. It is praised for stable wired performance, simple VPN access, and room to grow with access points, cameras, and other UniFi gear without a subscription. Coverage is solid for smaller to mid sized homes, but range can trail stronger Asus or mesh setups, and larger homes may need extra wired access points. It also has a learning curve and limited camera capacity, so it fits best when you want UniFi control in a modest setup.
Common Questions (5)
It is a strong home all-in-one if you want UniFi's controller, VPN, VLAN, camera, and ecosystem features in one box. It is less compelling if you only need basic routing and Wi‑Fi, or if you already have a solid router and do not plan to expand into UniFi gear.
It is reported to cover about a 2,500 sq ft home, but UniFi's design philosophy is "more, better placed" rather than maximum radio power. For larger homes, adding a wired access point at the opposite end can improve coverage and total bandwidth.
If you already have APs, the Cloud Gateway Fiber is the better fit because the Dream Router 7 includes its own Wi‑Fi 7 AP. If you already use an NVR, the Cloud Gateway Fiber plus a separate AP is also a cleaner setup than relying on the UDR7 alone.
The UDR7 includes a Wi‑Fi 7 AP and one PoE port, while the Cloud Gateway Max uses an M.2 SSD instead of microSD storage and has a slightly stronger processor with support for more connections and cameras. The Max is the better pick for camera-heavy setups; the UDR7 is the simpler all-in-one option.
Yes. A UniFi access point can be temporarily plugged into the UDR7's PoE port for setup, then moved to its final location and powered with a PoE injector to join the network as mesh.

Cloud gateway fiber
Cloud gateway Max
Cloud gateway ultra
Dream router 7.
Which one to buy?
Also cloud gateway Max comes with SSD can that be used as Storage over cloud?
The UDR 7 has Wifi 7 (latest & fastest speed) radio & routing function, like the other 3.
UDR7 has some other functions better than CG, like PoE port.
This is prosumer devices so some business doesn't want wifi router and simply the gateway to distribute traffic.
Three CGs have difference in speed, up to 10 Gbps, and ports.
I like the form factor of this one and not needing to have a closet
I'm a newbe at the network set-up. can i get the micro center deal (UDR7 ROuter and the access Point) to cover a 3 level house. in that will the Router and access point both work or only the Access point is used to connect and we cannot use the router to connect any devices.
I've RING cameras, will that be ok to goto Wifi7
can someone please advise

A few minor things do not make as much sense - lack of USB port, top can get rather hot, range is decent but not great, single PoE port, interface is constantly being updated and often hard to find things because there is still NO search for settings.
For many years I have been using OpenWRT and this is like a breath of fresh air. It will not be as secure as a device with OPNSense or Junos OS, but for a home network this is as good as it can get at a very reasonable price and you can disable certain cloud features to reduce security risks.
