48v batteries $799 each x 6 =$4,794
10 kw Inverter/mppt = $1,699
That leaves $507 for 16 panels and wiring ~ $31.68 per 410w panel (price including wiring.)

Plus the picture shows a rack for the batteries, and free shipping in the listing.

Always intrigued by solar and how to set this up as a DIY. Seems like pro install costs about $20k regardless and doesn't come with extended 20+ warranty as you didnt buy it through them. Seems like solar setups are getting cheaper. Labor getting more expensive

Hmm tempting. Possibly under 10k all in even if I hired someone to install.

But according to Will Prowse on YT, these are exactly and even a smidge lower than advertised ah according to his testing. Most 48v batteries give more. But also, most people won't mind that fact. Just mentioning.

Thanks for doing the math, great deal for sure. Just the rack is $3-400. I have been building my system using their big 48V 280Ah batteries but definitely suggest going rack route unless you have ways to move 300 lb things.

Probably actual electrician labor is going to be like $5k just for roof top wiring. It cost a lot to get someone licensed to go up to the roof to work on wiring which most likely have to be done in conjunction with a roofer/solar panel installer who will probably charge you another $5-6k since they will have to guarantee that your roof will not leak etc. (this is also an issue with me as I have a new roof and if it leaks after install, I am pretty sure that the solar installer and roofer will fight over who is responsible, etc.) Then, electrician will have to run the wiring to your basement or wherever you have the panel and wire up your battery and inverter and tie it into your panel for another $3-4k.
So, at minimum, it will cost you $14-15k in labor. I am sure it will be cheaper if you can build a mount on the ground and mount all the solar panels your self and get an electrician to just run the wiring from that solar panel setup to your home panel and wire up the battery and inverter. That should cost you about $5-6k which isn't too bad since you can probably claim 30% tax credit if you act very quickly.

Thanks for the update and breakdown. Roof install is the logical choice here but it comes down to finding a roofer and an electrician that will work together to bring the cost down and be responsible for the warranty. At $15k labor plus $7k system this will breakeven for me in about 8-9 years. What's the avg breakeven for a solar system these days for people? This does not include tax incentives.

There is a roofer around my neighborhood who also has an electrician staff to do solar panel installation. Maybe there is one near you that also has same kind of arrangement. At this late in the game, it would be very difficult to arrange someone to come out and finish the job in 4 weeks with like 1 week holiday time towards the end.

I broke down to $15k labor MINIMUM since your posting appear to suggest that $20k for installation seem outrageous but IMHO, considering $15k being pretty much rock bottom for roof top solar installation labor, depending on the location $20k does not seem outrageous to me.

That said, at this time, if you want to take advantage of 30% tax credit, I say you have to move VERY quickly. Considering you will have to wait like a week or 2 to get these shipped out to you and have like 1 week to get it installed. IRS rule I believe is that it has to be INSTALLED and in USE before end of the year.
