Just FYI, this is not the "Cloud" gateway fiber, so no unifi software built in...

I was thinking about posting this as well but ultimately decided not to as it's the UXG-Fiber (needs something external to manage) and not the UCG-Fiber (which has a built-in controller). Something to keep in mind if you're thinking about purchasing this

ah shit, I jumped the gun on this one. I take it it'll still function unmanaged, yeah? Should be able to manage it through truenas, yeah?

It's pretty easy to stand up a docker container to run the management software, I've been doing it for years on my low end Synology NAS.

Thanks for pointing that out, almost ordered it. Hoping for a deal on the Cloud.

What is considered the upgrade for UDM Pro? Looking to get something with faster WAN port as UDM pro is limited to 1gig. Though the UDM Pro has been solid thus far.
EDIT: looks like the Pro Max is the step up with 2.5 WAN port.

If you need a faster WAN port on the UDM pro, you can just get an SFP to ethernet adapter for the SFP WAN port on it that will let you do up to 10Gbps. You don't need a whole new unit.

Yes your right. I completely forgot, I tried the H!Fiber SPF a while back and had tons of issues. Looks like IDS/IPS throughput 3.5 Gbps but should be fine with Google fiber 3gig. Just not sure its worth the $30 a month when bandwidth is not over utilized.

So basically you are running the same controller as software vs. the built-in with the cloud version? If so, any upside/benefit?

That's seriously confusing. I think they do this to the other gateways too.

Be very careful buying Ubiquiti products. Seems pretty easy to buy the wrong one with these overlapping names.

It runs the same. I run it as a software on my windows server. Only problem I run into is when it fails to start automatically. I've heard the same happens with Dockers sometimes.

I have a 10GTek sfp to Ethernet running from a UniFi switch in the basement to a 2.5Gb UniFi switch with 10Gb Ethernet uplink on a different floor. Works great and I haven't had any issues with this brand.

Oh they absolutely are banking on people picking these up "cheap" thinking they're getting the full feature UCG fiber... 😒
