Normal price $33.99, on sale for $19.99 during Amazon's Black Friday week.

We've tried about 7 of these pet water dish designs that circulate the water and this Veken brand one is the only one I recommend. ALL the others have issues with the pump design that make it hard or impossible to clean (and it MUST be cleaned weekly, at least) and/or have terrible/ineffective filtration systems.

This Veken checks all the boxes for performance and ease of use. We have yorkies and they can easily drink from it, and since it's higher than a dish, they aren't bending down to drink.

We paired it with a larger diatomaceous earth (stone) mat that's 23" x 15" so any water splashed out of the dish evaporates off the mat and doesn't cause the floor around it to become slippery.

It's a shame that none of the companies making these can do one design that checks all the boxes. This Veken is as close as any of them have gotten to the ultimate, but stainless and a light would be nice. Absent perfection, an easily cleanable pumping system is the #1 thing to get right and the Veken does.

Nope. It's using the hard-to-clean pump with a wire going into the water to power it.

The one in the OP is using magnetic induction to turn the impeller and move the water from outside the unit. The impeller is very easy to remove and clean.

They have another one with a metal TRAY cap that IS the correct type of pumping system, but it's only the tray part on top.

How about filterless options? The biggest money drain with fountains is buying the filters. And with these all water is fresh and none recycled so no need to clean out the motor as no bacteria goes through the unit.

I bought one to try since there's two months to return it if it doesn't work as expected.

I have no experience with those, but it seems like more of a hassle than the veken with the impeller wheel. Also seems like way overkill at $54.

I think over time the filters will push the cost of a $20 fountain over $54. I have a couple filtered fountains and one of my cats always gets excited when water is swapped out which leads me to think might they prefer fresh over recycled through a filter. It will be an interesting experiment to see which fountain is more popular.
