My spouse has been collecting the Swarovski Annual Edition Ornaments since the early 90s. We have discovered over the years that there are many counterfeits being sold. Until a few years ago, it was fairly easy to identity a fake with careful inspection not only of the crystal, but of the high-quality packaging elements (whether or not the print was embossed, for example).
Unfortunately, just a few years ago, Swarovski decided if you can't beat 'em join 'em, and switched to much, much cheaper packaging. Now it is nearly impossible to detect fakes because the real ones look fake. Further, Swarovski started cheaping it out on the design, basically duplicating previous years' designs rather than producing something unique.
I'm making no claim that the ornaments in this deal are less than genuine. Per Swarovski customer service, the "Swarovski Store" on Amazon is legit. There was a press release in February 2020 that Swarovski was opening a brand store on Amazon. BUT .. it appears to me that this is an umbrella "store" for many sellers. When I've ordered through the Swarovski store, the seller has been "Other". The seller I see in this deal is "Platinum-Deals". The bottom line is if you want something pretty for the tree on the cheap, this deal is good. If you want a collector's item with near certainty of authenticity, you are probably not going to find those anymore.

The seller in this deal is Amazon themselves. It is likely the real deal.

I asked RUFUS, the Amazon AI bot, where this was sourced from. Its answer is unclear. See below.

The Swarovski Annual Edition 2023 Ornament is manufactured by Swarovski and made in Austria, which has been their traditional production location since the company was founded there in 1895. However, one reviewer notes concerns about recent production changes, mentioning a shift to manufacturing in China for newer editions, though this specific 2023 ornament would likely still be from their traditional Austrian facilities.

As I said, at the time of my post, the seller was "Platinum-Deals". I do see that right now the seller is Amazon, but YMMV.

This used to be one of the ways you could tell a fake. However, they are now manufactured elsewhere. The 2025 annual ornament I just purchased says "Made in Serbia."

I bought 2 and just received them. One of them says made in austria with another sticker on it saying made in Serbia, while the other one made in Vietnam on both. WTF?

Are these counterfeits?

I wish I knew a reliable way to tell. The fakes have gotten better and the genuine Swarovski products are now made and packaged so cheaply, it is really hard to tell.
