If you don't use a saw or use a tool all day it may be overkill. Two of these can get me through full days and they do not add noticeable bulk to compact tools. I started with DeWalt 18v and with battery it's over 5lbs.

Nope. It's nice to have some batteries with the wider base to work as feet for when you want to set down the pistol grip style tools between uses.
