PSA: "Seattle-based electric-bike maker, Rad Power Bikes has told its employees it would be facing shutdown in January 2026 if it doesn't get new funding, or get acquired. According to TechCrunch, the company's leadership "still fighting to find ways to continue," and "the cessation of Rad's operations is not a foregone conclusion," according to the email, which was sent by Rad Power's "people team."

use the paypal "pay in 4" for another 20% off taking it down to roughly $640.
then i think if you use bank of america card for 3% back on internet purchases on paypal it would take it down to roughly $620

Community Reviews

The Radster Trail Large stands out as a heavy but polished e bike with strong value at the sale price, especially when the PayPal offer drops it to around $640. It fits riders about 5 foot 7 to 6 foot 4 with a 27 to 35 inch inseam, and the large red frame is the version on sale. The bike is praised for solid components, smooth rides, and easy assembly with good video guidance. Main cautions are its weight, rear hub motor maintenance hassle, final sale status, and ongoing Rad support and battery safety concerns.

PayPal gave me 171000 points = $171. Not sure why I didn't get $200 but 171 not bad
You got more than 20% of the $800 (probably 20% of the cost inclusive of tax).

At this price it's better value than the no name Chinese bikes. I'll roll the dice with this over an AliExpress bike
Same reason I decided to go with this even though Rad is probably not gonna survive the new year. If I was paying $1000+ that would be different, but at $640 (after PP 20% CB), willing to take chance.

Did the PayPal Split 4 checkout but 20% did not appear. Can someone confirm that the discount is applied later or did I mess up something?
You have to make sure you clicked on the 20% offer in your Paypal account before going to purchase. I clicked on offer in PayPal app, then went on my PC to order. There is no indication of offer while checking out in BestBuy, but a bit after checkout I got confirmation text from Paypal:
"Your purchase at Best Buy Co. Inc
Your $1109.92 payment was completed (I ordered a monitor too). Good news! You have 22198 points (22198 pts = $221.98) pending for this purchase."
And it shows up under pending points when I looked in my account.

Although I saved the 4 payment cashback to my account on Paypal, I am not presented this offer on Best Buy. Lame.

I stopped by the Rad store in Ballard just on the off chance they would price match. They were very nice and basically said that there is no way as that is below cost and said at that price buy two. I asked them what they feel the future holds for them and they said they are more optimistic than they were a couple weeks ago and have had some interest. They offered to assemble the bike there even though purchased from Best Buy. It's a nice looking bike for sure so I did order two and will pick up when in Oregon next month to save on 10.6% sales tax in WA.

Yes, I ride lots of bikes. I just changed a rear fat tire e-bike tube last week. The wheel pulls off by loosening the main nuts, and fiddling with the chain to remove from derailleur. The motor is inside the spokes, so it has nothing to do with accessing the tube. It's just a really large hub.
Ok, you are the outlier. I've stopped twice to help people on our mt trails with flats and clueless. One on the smaller tire, cargo style bike that was pushing 80+ lbs I think. Both had no tools or spare tubes. One had a pump..wheee. Ride safe

Well, bit on 2. Trail large for me. Road regular for my wife.
I see these on marketplace local for $1000-$1200. $640 with PayPal seems a no brainer.
We have always rode standard bikes, but as we age, a bit of assist on long rides will be welcome!

I only got 171000 points = $171. Not sure why it's not 20% but pretty close.
how do you get these rewards? I use paypay all the time (including pay in 4, on occasion) and have never seen any type of cash back, % off, rewards or discount of any kind?

I am 5'10" and would rather have the Road over the Trail but that is only on sale in regular size, which goes up to 5'8". Is it worth gambling that I can make the regular size work or should I just get the large trail?
