However the redemption rate is a measly 0.7 cents per point. Which in itself is pretty weak.
at 50% discount my redemption will be at 1.4 cents, which is decent but not the greatest.

You only had to use 1 point ... to get the percentage discount. Now, it's 5 dollars of your amex credit to apply the discount percent, in my case only 15 percent. So I use 714 points (5 dollars), and if I get a 15 dollar product, ... 5 dollars is my points and the 15 percent is 1.50 cents(1.50 dollars discount) ... so I liked the other way of when I got 40 percent percent and only had to use 1 point (.07 cents) to get the deal.
I'm not as grateful about this situation as I used to be. Times are Changing. Happy thanksgiving everybody.
