I assume you mean these: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Anvil.../302755764. If so, "bandy" clamps like this one perform a different function than the ordinary clamps you're thinking. The rubber band between them is designed to put pressure perpendicular to the two prongs of the clamps. It is used for particular applications like adding veneers to a surface.

Here's a video of someone making a DIY bandy clamp. It'll show you the differences clearly: https://youtu.be/1RDPcO5-9Sg?si=VKAjduRjoeIcW707.

The only difference is the rubber band in between that clamps edge banding. These are useful for that, but also expensive for what they are. 99 cent anvil clamps plus some rubber band like material such as bicycle inner tube will get you to the same result with a little extra work and a little less polish... All depends on how much your time is worth. You could probably get the same result with some tape or a pin nailer honestly 😂

This is actually about as good a price as you'll ever see on these.

If you do a lot of hardwood edge banding or similar work, I think these might be worth trying. They're very convenient for that purpose.

If you don't do much of that, these probably aren't for you.

I'm wondering if I can use them for ski edge sharpening work as a cheaper alternative of ski vise
