It's been this price for a couple of weeks now. I returned the first one as it reported the wrong amount of free space (reported 2TB free but unusable for any of it). Second unit did the same thing.

Come to find out Windows 11 starting with 24H2 has an HMB issue for this drive and the 2TB version. If you add this 1TB as a secondary drive with win11 24H2, beware.

A registry change limiting HMB buffer size to zero or 64 MB is the fix.

I put in a ticket with WD/Sandisk and they are investigating

I just grabbed the 2TB to throw in a drawer for later use. Making me consider if I want to test it out first..

There is no updated FW for the 1TB drive

I also bought a 2TB at the time I got the first 1TB and the 2TB was okay from the start. It already had the latest FW.

Sandisk (they are WD's ssd division) has gone back and forth with me on the 1TB version, even calling me to get more info.

I'd imagine it wouldn't be a problem if you get a heatsync for it.

The PS5 requires PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSDs according to its spec requirements. Although, I expect this SSD to be compatible w/ the PS5, its read/write speeds I'm assuming will only be the enough to meet the bare minimum to be considered a PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSD.

Why buying to keep it in a drawer ? The price hasn't changed since September, it's not a black friday deal, so why not buying when you need it ?

I bought the 2tb version of this same drive a couple weeks ago for $109. I went back a couple days later, figuring I might want to grab another just in case prices went up like everyone was predicting. Sure enough, they'd gone up to $124.
