If you prefer classic waffles, not Belgian, this is amazing bang for the buck. I have two for faster cycling, going strong for 8 years. Use hot water only, no soap, to clean the plates and the non stick will work better.

I agree and I'm in the same mind of keeping more than one to speed things up. This one makes waffles like the old school irons from the 50s, 60s, and 70s, crispy with a light and tender interior. Definitely worth it to whip egg whites to fold in to a batter that is at or close to a one cup of flour to one cup milk ratio. My mother didn't use buttermilk but I like to use it for about 1/3 to 1/2 of the milk for a little boost of flavor.

Doesn't take a genius to read a few studies, might take some more due diligence but go talk to doctors and nutritionists, helping people remove toxic things from their environment, avoiding things like teflon is one of many good decisions people can make.

Look for a ceramic based waffle maker as a healthier alternative.

The person who said you don't have to worry about teflon unless it peels. Wrong. Teflon gives off microscopic particles that don't look like flakes to the naked eye every time you cook with one, the more you use it over time the more unhealthy it will make you. Best to avoid it.

This is correct - Both Teflon and Ceramic are toxic. Any suggestion on carbon steel waffle maker? I googled and tried to find but nothing came up
