I have a pair of these for primarily auto work. They've been flawless so far, much better than the harbor freight ones I had before. Fit a wide selection on both external and internal snap rings.

I have a few cheap pairs of these...the Channelock seem more robust and durable than the HFT and Irwin ones that I have.

Might as well get the proper tool now instead of trying to use tiny screwdrivers and shooting the rings all over the place.

These are really nice to have for snap rings! I also have the Irwin version and that one sucks, but these work great!

Slop in the joint, on really stiff circlips / retaining rings you'll get a significant amount of deflection of the two arms, resulting in twist in the clip and it likely flying off the ends. Also swapping tips is just a waste of time. Inevitability you'll lose or bend/break one of the interchangeable tips.

If you value quality tools, your time, and you have a use for circlip pliers on multiple occasions, just save up and wait for the Knipex Precision circlip plier set to go on sale again. The Knipex Precision set uses heat treated hard wire that is inserted and then crimped in place for the engaging tips. They bores for the wire are actually splayed slightly, so that you get and retain a much better hold on the clip as you manipulate it in or out of the groove.

The people leaving positive reviews for the Channellocks and similar units haven't used something substantially better. It is like eating dog shit your entire life, of course you'll like it, it is all you know...

Thank you. 1. I won't buy these and 2. Now I know what is recommended.

Appreciate you taking the time to respond.
