I get what you're saying, but gpus do not tend to bounce up and down in pricing the way memory and storage does. At $600 these gpus have tremendous price to performance.

I have been an active online PC Gamer for well over 20 years, and a member of the Slickdeals community for almost 15 years. Most of my hardware has been older models or mid-range at the best. I mean, if you like watching television you could certainly buy a 10-year-old 22-in insignia brand for $20 at a thrift store. Is the important thing just getting the family together to watch a movie? Most people get a lot more enjoyment with a 65 in television with modern technology for a more satisfying experience. Same goes with gaming PCs.

And I think what you don't understand is how many people in the Slickdeals community very much enjoy and find fulfillment out of hunting deals. I love the hobby of building gaming computers and finding good deals to make a nice build is extremely satisfying. If you don't, then by all means don't waste your time doing it.

AMD has already said GPU prices will get higher next year due to runaway RAM prices. Probably a good time to buy if you need a video card.

I don't mean to dis people here. I guess I'm just jaded with myself missing out on past deals, not going for it and end up missing out on playing with people back in 2016. I'm self projecting my frustration here which I'm don't meant to bring down the community here which is great. People here taught me some good life lessons.
It's good to have deals shown by people here and the deals at msrp are the best most people can realistically hope and actually get outside of ymmv. I remember DDR4 ram costing $100 for 64gb, $150 64gb DDR5 just checking messing around in pcpartpicker thinking that was a good deal and current prices confirm it. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I overthink too much and end up missing out on good deals.

In for a Hellhound, figure getting it near MSRP is about as I'll get. Worried that the spikes we are seeing in the RAM might spilling over. I don't need to use it right away, so with extended Holiday returns I'll see how stuff shakes out.

The high prices fell quick and now even at or a little below MSRP, no one is buying. And these company's won't lower their prices because they'll have to lower the new card prices as well. And they don't want to do that. So they (Nvidia specifically) contacted the memory manufacturers and floated the idea of creating a FOMO campaign to help move over stocked gpus and memory modules. Don't fall for it. It's FOMO. With tRump running the economy into the ground, these cards will be fire saled first quarter 2026. We've got so many retailers trying to send back unsold gpus because they have no room for them.
