Disagree. These are too thin and also no pass through means more work as a skiing base layer. Been looking for a deal on base layers, this was close!

the cheap thermajohn stuff on amazon is actually quite good... synthetic and fleece-like so doesnt get wet and doesnt get cold

I've worn these in 80 degrees and guarantee they do not cool anything. They are hot, but are warming in cold (40ish) weather

People as in women?
Cst, smart wool, Burton all have front flap for men. If you own any base layer you know that you need that feature otherwise ya have to deal with consequence of not having one

To me these work great as a base layer for both cold weather running and skiing. If it's below 15° F I'll add a mid layer for skiing, otherwise just this and a quality pair of pants. For running these just replace the base layer of compression shorts. I don't like running shorts with built in liners so I'll wear these with shorts over them. I'll take the phone pocket over the flap.

Costco brand 32 degree is the same thing, has a pee hole, and is $19 regular price down to $15 on sale, at certain times. Don't think anyone will be looking at the brand name deep inside your pants.

Great recommendation, but you and a few other people are mixing the purpose of these tights.

For those folks looking to add a base layer for warmth, 32 degrees (not just a Costco brand BTW), are 40% Poly/34% Acrylic/22% Rayon/4% Spandex which is good for softness and heat retention, offering a much warmer and cozier experience. 32 degrees even makes them in 3 different thicknesses depending on how much warmth you need. Lightweight, midweight, heavyweight. They are great bank for the buck (less than $10 each) and have pee holes.

The Under Armour tights listed here are 84% Poly/16% Elastane and designed for for working out, running, or any activity where you sweat and need a compressive, supportive fit.

Spandex is stretchy, but Elastane is higher stretch for a more compressed fit.
Polyester has limited heat retention and maximum moisture wicking.
Acrylic and Rayon are softer and warmer than Polyester, but not as effective at moisture wicking.
