Prusa are one of the more open, reliable and upgradeable 3d printer manufacturers. You definitely pay for that as they are more expensive than the many other options out there but for those that value a printer for which they can print spare parts, can upgrade to newer models, and does not require an internet connection or app, this is probably the best place to go.

i still remember those good old days w/ makerbot 5th gen at $2500...😂
You can buy this Prusa MK4S and then upgrade it later into a Core One+ and then eventually upgrade with an 8-toolhead INDX printer that can switch filament colors in 10-15 seconds with no filament waste (first preorder already sold out but more will be coming in Q2 2026). My Bambu takes over a minute to change colors (maybe a minute-and-a-half?) and wastes a bit of filament each time it does it.
You're also paying for great support and standardized parts. My Prusa breaks tomorrow chances are I can get the part off Amazon and fix it same day/next day. If your Bambu breaks and the printers parts are no longer available you're buying a new printer. I had to stock up on commonly used parts for my Bambu A1 because it kept taking a week to get them in the mail when they had them on hand.
Anyways that's my TED talk. If you're looking for value the Chinese printers are fine. I own one too. If you're looking for a platform to grow on with a great community of serious makers that aren't just making premade models (although you can do that too!)... that's what you go to Prusa for.
TL;DR: Printer is expensive but this is slightly less expensive than it usually is. This is the kind of printer that can literally last you for years and years and years if you keep it updated (or keep it the same... the MK4S is awesome. It's my main printer).
