Depends on whether you are the type of user who can take advantage of the capability of the m5 chip. For most everyday tasks, you wouldn't see much of a difference between the two.
13inch iPad Pros are gargantuan lol. With a Magic Keyboard it weighs about the same as a 13inch MacBook Air, and you don't get MacOS. Respect to those who want a gigantic tablet.

The screen size will make more of a difference than the chip. 4k120hz output from the m5 is nice but I returned the 13 for an 11. Drawing/notes and productivity tasks the screen real estate on the13 is nice to have, but the 11 is better if you want to hold the tablet in your hands and use it without a keyboard.
This is a good deal if you're close to a Costco warehouse that has it in stock. I'm looking to replace my 2018 12.9" iPP with a comparable m4 iPP pro and agree that this is the best price for new so far. I'm hoping that we'll see that $999 for the 13" m4 iPP on Black Friday from other sellers.
I checked again and discovered it (iPP 13" M4 256GB, Space Black) was available to order online. I immediately ordered and received confirmation. Estimated delivery is Friday, the 28th.
If there's a Black Friday deal that's better, I'll return this one unopened to Costco.

Personally, I'll take the MacBook Air ANYTIME over the iPad regardless what you want to do with it. 1. It has 24GB RAM. You can quite literally do 99.9% of the things people do on their computer. 2. On the other hand, you can probably only do 65%(85% if you don't do professional stuff) on an iPad 3. They are the same weight anyway(with keyboard). You are not really shaving off weight when you go out and about.
Just FYI - a few weeks ago on Amazon they were running a 20% off deal off $976.49 on this exact same Ipad Pro 256GB 13" M4 Open Box. I selected one that was in USED-MINT condition for $781.19. It came perfectly, it was an open/slightly scratched outer box the original screen and all accessories weren't even touched and had all their original packing. No doubt these are hard to come by and not everybody will get the same condition, but I think this was the BEST deal I saw this year on this exact 13" M4 Ipad Pro model and makes it worth it at this price.
