I have two phones (work and personal). Android phone: no alternative billing and cheapest is 10.99/mo. iPhone: alternative billing with 2.99/mo deal. Same lapsed account.

I finally got it. I created on account on web but didn't complete the acutally subscribe to $10.99 plan.

Then I downloaded the HBO Max app on Iphone and used the "alternative billing" that only appears in on the app there. Apparently you gotta subscribe through Apple.

Create your login, but don't pay. Open the HBO MAX app, sign in, and then it'll say "welcome back" renew, connect to provider, or alternative billing (this isn't in a button format so it's kind of hidden). Click "Alternative Billing" to see the 2.99 a month offer.

Just a note, it won't qualify for the amex entertainment credit since it has to be subscribed from the website.

I subscribed for 2.99, couldn't get hbo to verify subscription through amazon. Amazon support otld me to cancel and I did now the new monthly is 10.99 /month. Supposedly will get a refund of $8/month from amazon. Still can't get it to verify subscription

Under your apple subscriptions it shows 10.99 until you click on it and then it shows .. you subscribed thru app promo of 2.99 per month for 12 months … good thru Nov. 2026 when it will go to 10.99 per month … requires a cc or PayPal would NOT take apple gc balance
