HBO Max Basic with Ads is showing a Black Friday style $2.99 per month offer for 12 months, and it is strongest for lapsed or eligible accounts that can access alternative billing. The deal often appears inside the app or under Change Your Plan, with Apple, Amazon, Roku, Fire TV, and some browser flows all surfacing it for different accounts. The main catch is that eligibility is inconsistent by device and billing path, and the ads tier does not include live sports or 4K. Ad load is real, though some playback is front loaded or lighter on older titles, making this a low cost way to keep Max if ads are acceptable.

Well that was a whole ass process. To get the account active by the Amazon app you must sign in on the device that's connected to your amazon account. In my case I had an 8 year old tablet I had to take out of the closest (surprised it actually turned on) took like 30 damn minutes to download the app on that thing but now the account is active for all other devices. Thanks

Worked for me on iPhone! I had an inactive account. I suspect this deal will be posted for all their billing options in the next few days, given they have done $3/mo for 6mo the past few years for BF. Nice to get 12mo this time.

I'm not seeing this black friday pricing on my android nor on iphone either, it's regular prices for me. I tried using botn Subscribe Now with no sign-in for new subscribers and using my expired membership account, neither show the discount. Hopefully it'll appear later.

I am confused, I have setup my subscription on an iOS device and now I have a monthly $2.99/month for 12 months through Apple. Should I cancel my Amazon subscription?

Can anyone confirm if the ads are pre-roll or dropped right in the middle of a show or movie?
TIA

Is this only for users who already have their accounts connected through their alternate provider?

Asking the same question as I don't see the promo and never had HBO before.

This was really easy on a fire tablet. I subbed on the web, chose to create an account later. Installed the app on fire tablet, signed into my old account and it automatically picked up the billing through Amazon.
The app on my Apple TV and shield tv now work and say subbed through Amazon.

Can confirm that I had to do this through the iOS app! I tried it through the website and the app on my Android phone... Doesn't work. Tried it on the iPad app and the alternative billing option for $2.99 was there. It's because it's billed through Apple. I had an inactive account since August FWIW.
I see posts that say it also works on Amazon devices, billed through Amazon. So maybe 3rd party billing through the app is the trick? Anyone try Roku yet?
