PSA: If you don't need the Hulu and happen to live near a Krogers, you can get Kroger Boost membership (free same day delivery) + Disney included for $50 for 1 year (Black Friday, half off membership price). That's like $4 a month. I already get Hulu for $1.99 with student discount, so I went the Kroger route instead

TY for sharing. Will still do this but it's a tougher call at $5. Hulu is worth $0 to me and Disney Plus is iffy, at best.

Same. Oddly, I've seen it block ads for Disney+ but not for Hulu. Fine w me as you can watch all of Hulu's content in Disney+ though.

I don't remember cable ever not having ads - unless you mean HBO and such? But they had real ad breaks as opposed to now these services break whenever the hell they want for ads.
