Wow, the 32GB DDR5 alone would cost almost this much nowadays in a desktop build

You can get a pair of noname (which is what I'm sure this PC has) 16GB DDR5 SODIMMs for about $200 on Amazon. Check the speed rating, though.

Well yeah... 16GB for $200 is 32GB for $400, almost the cost of the mini PC in this slickdeal, which is exactly what I originally said

No, a pair of 16GB DIMMs for $200. That's 32GB.

Yeah so DDR5 has tripled in price in the last 3 months. When I was first considering my desktop upgrade in September, 32gb of 6000 was around hundred. When I bought in late October, it was 180. Today the exact same kit I got in Oct is 300, IF you can even find it in stock. And that wasn't a name brand like Corsair, who I usually opt for.

So yeah, if you're in for a desktop, going for something like this might be the way to go. Or just hold your ground 6ish months and see what happens. Usually price spikes like this don't last forever

If your wondering what to use these for (other than the obvious mini-pc...), currently using mine as a complement to my Roku box, except I can add ad-blockers to things like youtube, can use a wireless keyboard, and it doubles as a retro gaming system.
