We have these all over our house, together with the Xsense base station and app. They've worked very well for us. Much better than the Kiddie brand system that we used to use.

X-Sense does have a limited number of smoke and/or combination detector models which are UL-listed. Search those here:
https://ramuk.intertekconnect.com...uzzy=FALSE

The model in this deal does NOT bear the UL listed mark (as documented in Amazon reviews) nor does the model name appear in the Intertek search above.

Amazon offers unlisted smoke detectors, with X-Sense being a leading brand associated with this trend.

I will defer to resources such as the city of Marietta, Georgia:
"Non UL-Listed Smoke Alarms Pose Safety Risks and Are Illegal"
https://mariettaga.gov/DocumentCe...PDF?bidId=

Good luck!

Changing out coin batteries every year in a smoke detector sounds like a headache.

Oh man. I just installed these with the carbon monoxide detectors throughout the house. I have to replace my batteries on my old nest alarms as well, so I don't mind changing the batteries.

No carbon monoxide detection..hard pass!
Agree, if it were CO + Smoke alarm, okay, but smoke detector alone is not enough for me

I think it is smaller in size compared to the standard smoke detectors...and looks like they don't include a bracket for ceiling mounting. Does anyone have experience with this?
Yes. I do like them, but they are much smaller. Than normal detectors

Are these trustworthy? I see a lot of mixed reviews on these on reddit and amazon reviews.
I don't know about this specific model but Consumer Reports rated other models from them pretty badly. I was looking into it a year ago and decided on the Kidde 20SD10 instead. Might not have fancy Wi-Fi but they are better at detecting fires.

Have had these installed for over a year (purchased two years ago and never got around to installing them), batteries still show as full, haven't had any false alarms like I used to with my old smoke detectors. Only thing I wish is that these could use the interconnect and hardwired power instead of just battery powered. I don't have anything that produces CO in my house, so it not being a combo device does not affect me, but I would've gone with a combo device if that was a need.

Smoke detectors are seriously overdue for app notifications and silencing
Was about to buy it but saw the video with the fire and exhaust from tailpipe and alarm didn't go off. LOL Going to just get the regular ones.. unnecessary tech in something as simple as a fire alarm.

Other models have a 5-year battery:

this we bought a 6 pack setup last year and the battery is the bigger sized ones... so far so good... its nice to get notifications on phone when smoke is detected even when away... especially if you have roommates

That's scary, now that you mentioned there are a lot of videos of it not going off or delayed. Since they are portable I'm going to test on my car tailpipe. Thanks.

Most any dedicated CO detector is by nature portable and good for travel. However, only a photo-electric smoke detector should be recomended for travel (assuming you're meaning air travel).

Any detector going through screening may drive some questions (not unlike a selfie-stick, large flashlight, or any electronic that isn't a phone or laptop). However, an ionizing detector could only increase that scrutiny.

In any case you want to locate a model with a removeable battery. For a smoke detector one candidate would be the First Alert P1000 Atom model. Note that this will be difficult for buyers in jurisdictions such as California where sealed lifetime batteries are effectively mandated. This might mean getting your desired unit out of state or via a 3rd party seller.

Good luck!
Jon
