Changing out coin batteries every year in a smoke detector sounds like a headache.

I think it is smaller in size compared to the standard smoke detectors...and looks like they don't include a bracket for ceiling mounting. Does anyone have experience with this?

We have these all over our house, together with the Xsense base station and app. They've worked very well for us. Much better than the Kiddie brand system that we used to use.

Other models have a 5-year battery:

No direct experience with this, but this price does seem to come around every month or so according to camel. They do seem to include the bracket, according to the one review video I watched, but I think the best feature is the ability to silence the alarm from the App. I think I'm going to get the 3 pack

CR123A isn't really a coin battery, but yeah changing it every year is going to be a pain, but I still think this is best for my needs right now.

Smoke detectors are seriously overdue for app notifications and silencing

Are these trustworthy? I see a lot of mixed reviews on these on reddit and amazon reviews.

I have the combo smoke plus carbon monoxide sensors. They seem to work fine, except we had one false alert from a bug crawling into one, and the app wouldn't let me silence the alarm because apparently that's not allowed above a certain "temperature" that the bug cause the device that see. I probably wouldn't buy these again.

I bought the 5 pack of these with the base station a year ago. They've been great so far for me! Batteries all still show full as well.

Does anyone know if you have to have/keep the app installed to receive notifications, or is there a method to have the device send you a Text message for alerts?
I don't mind changing the battery yearly as needed....that was always a rule with traditional/old school devices.

If this was a wired price, I'd be all over it. Also, the battery is one that is not really standard anywhere else and agree that replacing every year would be a pain.

Approaching the end of life for my smoke / carbon monoxide detectors. Really seems like a hassle to deal with coin batteries. Will pass and see if I can find a smart, combo detector with a better battery situation.
