If I already had a rooftop solar array with grid-tied inverters, what components would I need to integrate batteries like this without replacing my existing inverters?

Get a solark hybrid inverter, which would allow you to connect the existing grid tie inverters and batteries to it.
I install similar systems in Houston area.

With your proposed config, is it possible to configure the Solark inverter to not dump battery storage to the grid? My motivation for adding batteries is that (a) batteries are cheap now and (b) our utility wants to chop net-metering rates in half. So I'm not interested in sending any power back to the grid unless our batteries are fully-charged and I definitely don't want to send power to the grid when solar isn't actively generating.


If hindsight were foresight, we would have picked hybrid inverters from the beginning but at the time net-metering rates weren't 1:1 but they were decent. And batteries were stupid expensive...still are for Powerwall, Franklin and similar. With the upcoming net-metering rates, I can make a financial case for batteries so long as I can install them and the other necessary components for under $270/kWh. I think we're there now or getting close.

Yes, you can configure it to do that. Load on solark will be your existing home electrical panel.

Just something to think about. Get yourself a Silverado EV w/ a 205kwh battery you're looking at about $48687.50 for the price of batteries. Buy yourself a used Silverado EV w/ extended range that you can plug into your home when you need a backup. The battery will last you a few months if you needed it AND you can drive it when you need it for about 17k more.

Just something to think about. Get yourself a Silverado EV w/ a 205kwh battery you're looking at about $48687.50 for the price of batteries if you bought 205kwh of these batteries. Buy yourself a used Silverado EV w/ extended range that you can plug into your home when you need a backup for 65k. The battery will last you a few months if you needed it AND you can drive it when you need it for about 17k more.

I have an 18kpv instead of a solark15. They're both going to do what you're looking for (and probably more). I needed a 200A passthrough though I think I need another 18kpv so it can run 100A off grid.

I have not seen anyone review this. For the v2 280ah model, i barely seen anyone review. I want to know if how cells are connected and specs. Too bad that eco worthy would not spend time to list details as always

Issue is, even with an EV (I actually have a Silverado EV but with 170Kwhr battery - got a demo one with 1200 miles for $47k + t&t) one would be better off with battery since one can use the car to recharge the battery and while battery is in use, you can use the car as a car - or to drive somewhere to recharge for extended outage situation. With my Silverado with 170Kwh AND my Ioniq 5 with additional 74Kwh with combined usable of 195Kwh (80% of total), I can practically last 1 full week normally OR almost 1 month if spent conservatively.

i was thinking of doing the same thing but batteries are too expensive and buying a new inverter is also expensive. the grid is basically free battery storage. better use of cash would be to add more solar panels and another grid inverter. i know power outages will render a grid tie solar system useless but that rarely happens, where i live anyway, and a generator can take care of that. just something to think about.

Most hybrid inverters can be made to not export power you can add ct clamp onto your meter wire just face arrow correct way

Yep.
The added benefit is that you can potentially go off-grid completely. The biggest issue is normally the depths of winter,where a particularly terrible week might be 10% of normal production. With a V2L EV, you could potentially drive to a supercharger once a week or so to get you through those weeks.
