Just FYI there is no upgrade path from the Switch 1 to the Switch 2 version.

Also FYI Amazon has the switch 2 version for $25.

Don't have first hand information. But I think it's still playable. But people who bought the switch 1 version were upset that Sega wouldn't release an upgrade pack and instead would have to buy the Switch 2 version to get the improvements.
