The phone makes sense for businesses who want the cheapest new iPhones in bulk. But personally I wouldn't upgrade to the 16e for free. I have too many MagSafe accessories, and the fact that even I'd have to spend money on a new case makes it feel like a net loss.
A used or refurbished 15 Pro would be a much better value, or even a 13 Pro would be better with its 120Hz ProMotion display. Plus you wouldn't have to worry about an unlock period.
This is beyond amazing as an iPod touch or a backup phone in a year. Is it the best phone ever, no. Is 175 or so out the door great though yes.
I do hate that they took out precision finding. But you only care about that if you use AirTags.

If they don't use it, then that number is available.It has been used.I recommend Tracfone for getting a $15 port number (don't recommend autopay). Automated and fast; just be careful not to trigger any flags that will require human intervention and write down all relevant info. You will need a spare phone or eSIM to get the auth messages to verify you own the port number.
If you don't have a compatible phone with Tracfone or is unsure about setting up the account correctly, PM me. I don't mind helping out a SDer and getting a new port number; just cover the number cost + tax.
